Pete.sVR6 0
Hi allI have started to get a slight misfire from cold, more severe when slowing/accelerating at junctions etc, this goes away,as the engine warms up. I have yet to get the car diagnostic checked. any ideas? VW approved garages in the Oxfordshire area anyone?Cheers.
Eat this 2
i had exactly the same thing 1 of the plug leads had come off the plug so at cold tickover and v light throttle it was missin but with more throttle it arced to the plug and worked its worth a look
28v6r 0
Have you carried out the standard tests on the coil pack, leads etc? i.e spraying the coil pack in light water? checking for arcing? When were the plugs last changed? The first one is a relatively easy fix, buy some silicone grease and coat the coil pack, Silicone acts as an insulator and should cure any misfire, next remove all leads and place in oven at Gas mark three.... Seriously, give the leads a reasonably warm heat but not VOLCANIC then leave in oven for 15-20 mins until hot to the touch, remove from oven and spray liberally with WD40 or similar and allow to dry then refit and Aye Voila!!!! No more misfire!Regards28v6r

Pete.sVR6 0
Cheers, for the advice, I have sprayed the coilpack and leads with wd40, and today the car ran fine, did have the bonnet up when i started it, heard a cracking noise (arching maybe?) a couple of times, but this didn't seem to correspond with any misfire? I have looked closely at the coilpack looks very clean like it may have been replaced at some point, so maybe my problem is the leads or plugs, car has a FSH so I assume they have been replaced at the correct intervals, As already explain I will be getting the car diags checked so will see what else if anything is going on &| ? patrick green 0
Pete does it ever feel a bit sluggish as you change up? As if the engine loses something just for a second or two? I had that & it was a camshaft sensor. Put a new one on & it went away
Pete.sVR6 0
Patrick,I can't say I have noticed that, touch wood, the problem has gone away (for now?) fingers crossed I will get through the 'Inters' weekend, and then I can concentrate on getting the car looked at properly.Cheers.
