six appeal 53
This takes weeks of planning so best get a wriggle on if your planning it for the next bank holiday, but works especially well if your trying to get your car ready for a show! After spending a bit of effort on my GTI the last few weeks so I can use it and take the VR off the road for this week to get it ready for Inters, I thought today would be a good day, despite the weather, to start fitting the £2k worth of new shiney stuff I've lavished on the VR this month! So I layed it all out in my garage and took a few pics for you guys to show you the build up of this week and how it all goes.Had to collect the car from my dads, as left it there last night after a few beers in town. Got in and noticed a bit of a funny smell Drove it home and had a quick peek to investigate to find all the drivers side rear footwell deep in water! and the front foot well damp?Took all the mats out to reveal the start of mould on the back of my brand new fitted mats (hence the smell). Upon further investigation and a lot of swearing and interior removal, found at least an inch of water in the bottom of the car! All the soundproofing soaked through, and the little sand bag deadeners had split to add to the water mix!So spent the whole day stripping and trying to dry the car out instead of getting all the shiney bits fitted!Once dry inside (carpets and sound deadening is indoors and still soaking now!) I had to try and find the cause of the problem! Turns out to be the 2p bung on the bonnet pull cable had come loose and so all the water from outside the car was dripping straight down across the scuttle tary and into my car! GUTTED!SO PLEASE IF YOU DO ANYTHING THIS WEEK, CHECK THAT YOUR CABLE BUNG IS CORRECTLY FITTED AND NOT COME LOOSE, I'D HATE IT TO HAPPEN TO SOMEONE ELSE!My rant over! Hopefully see you all at Inters! %-

madmonkee 0
my abs is going well wanky!! i got the same intermitant fault as everyone else has with the abs sensor. Now when its off and suposedly working fine i get sum serious funkai noises and feedback through the cluth pedal, from the abs unit. Sum reason the abs unit thinks the car is locking up and goes mental..... normally slowing down, then all of a sudden i get that funky feeling on the pedal and the car in front get REAL close REAL quick! yeeha 0
Must be a VW thing, I had the same problem with my N reg polo - every time I got into the car it stank like farts, turned out that my carpets in the passenger side rear were soakin and seeping through to the front Just last week, I noticed a few days in a row when I got into the VR the same "pumpy" smell was lingering aboot. Flippin nora, back carpet a bit damp So looks like the VR has the same problem. Wonder where its coming from though, since its in the passenger side ?
