duncs 0
My m-reg VR6 is sounding very lumpy at idle and losing speed in drive (auto). My garage say it's the coil pack which needs replacing. I notice a similar problem recorded in the car's service history, it's done 99k miles, and the coil pack was replaced at about 60k. therefore my question to you is, is it likely to be the coil pack again, do they really fail that often? mightyvr6 0
They don't fail that often. When they do go wrong 2 of the 6 tend to go at the same time. The insolation can crack and cause arcing which can lead to lumpy running. Do the epoxy fix and see if it runs any better. If it doesn't you might be looking at some other problem - leads, plugs or possibly the maf.
kilokilla 0
I find that steam cleaning engine can knock em out real quick and ive also had a few go down on 1 cylinder so i would say it is a common thing for them to go down but thats just my opinion.
28v6r 0
You could do the epoxy fix followed by a coating of silicone grease to repel moisture, make sure you dry the pack out before doing the epoxy fix & sealing, that way it won't feel as lumpy, there was also a coilpack on Ebay recently for 60 notes, apparently bought and unneeded.. just a thought... Petesvw 0
I thought my coil pack had gone last year, turned out to be my fuel punp relay.I have a spare coil pack now, so if you want to borrow it to try, p.m me.
