Hey guys,

i have recently noticed, when approaching a traffic light and pressing the brake pedal after a few seconds of gradually slowing down i hear a springy noise coming from the middle/rear of the car that lasts a few seconds, its almost like a cable being pulled tight and vibrating.

car brakes well and had the brake fluid serviced last week as well. once i set off after stopping completely after a very short distance the springy noise re-appears then goes away all back to normal again.....

can someone tell me what on earth is going on?

1500 pounds later i am still getting problems and am not really a happy bunny at the moment lol

sounds bizarre mate but you could try checking the heat shield that sits above the exhaust isnt coming a bit loose as this makes a noise a bit like what you are saying im working on a couple at mo so i will check underneath and see if i can see anything else that might cause this sort of prob ,are your engine mounts good cos im thinking maybe its something to do with a bit of engine movement under breaking .

hi guys, sorry for late reply,

braking is not effected at all as had a brake service done recently, i will check the heat shield and brake shield soon though as it is possible. mind you - it seems to have disappeared at the moment, bloody strange i tell you lol.

instead i got this nasty squeeking noise thats eating my brains out!! but il wait for that to get worse before i try to figure what it is.

It could be 1 of many things but more than likely its a faulty sensor which is giving off a signal that the car is skidding which is causing the abs to engage. This will caus the crunchin sensation as the brakes rnt locking, they r in abs mode bouncing off the disc so u still have control...it could also be a bust ring gear end???
