VR6Andy 0
I arrived home last night and heard the tones of a blowing exhaust. Bas$%rd, the blow sounded to be coming from under the drivers seat, The CAT i think?. I have looked and found what looks to be a missing bolt, there is no sign of the usual rotting. When I cover the hole all is cured. So what do you think is missing>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
antera309 3
Is the heat shield still attached to the bottom of the CAT?

andy c 0
Its fine, a blob of weld will do.Happened to me, its there for a some sort of sensor that wasn't ever fitted. I think the bolts do eventually rot away. Awesome Gti welded mine at a regular service about a year ago and the car is still hunky dorey on the same exhaust. bet you feel better now! VR6Andy 0
Thanks for that chaps, yes the heat shield is fine and the hole is on the drivers side of the CAT. I did think I had lost a sensor but it appears that is a regular problem so I will get it blocked. Thanks again, PS too strapped to buy a CAT back but it was worth the suggestion. jamieVR6 0
The same happened to me, but i drove around for 2 months before doing anything. It ruined my cat so i got a sports cat & ss exhaust, now sounds mental!
