apd 0
has anybody had any success with fabricating a decent cold airfeed for a s/c vr?not a lot of room in the inner wing for the air to feed the charger?dont really want to stamp the bonnet directly over the charger to feed it with air as it draws attention to nickability!but it may provide the chargers' greed for cold air.is it worth fabricating pipework from the lower grill with non heat soak pipework?any ideas? thanks in advance. mightyvr6 0
You could buy some flexible pipework to make a feed or buy a new intake (cai) which places the filter just below the wing so it's not in the warm engine bay.
apd 0
thank for the reply mighty.where do i buy the off the shelf feed from.gunner av a good nosey in the inner wing tomorrow to inspect the set up.
mightyvr6 0
I've got a C2 motorsports (check out www.c2motorsports.net for pics) cai pipe which costs $200. This will at least get the filter out of the engine bay and you could try and run a pipe from the front bumper to the filter to get some airflow into it.
binliner 0
Mine came with a silicone hose that puts the filter down in the bumper area
vr6 g3 0
Whilst where on about lowering the intake temp has anyone by-passed the coolant hose that runs through the throtle body cos i presume its only needed in extremley low temps. Also you seem to findthe intake pipe just before it goes into the throtle body is red hot from the heat off the exhaust aswell. What are your views on this ???
VR6Rich 3
Shouldnt be red hot as the exhaust heat shield should protect it from the heat coming fron the exhaust manifold.
vr6 g3 0
Okay then its not red hot buts its pretty warm, There's still a hell alot of heat that comes from the manifold pop your bonnet once you've been out in your car and feel the intake pipe just as it goes into the throtle body,

apd 0
ok.inspected my cold feed set up.it is a ovular metal gauze filter with 2 end plates bolted to the s/c.i could take it off and feed a pipe to it directly from the inner wing or leave it asit is and fabricate some ducting from the innerwing and bottom grill?as it is now its just pulling warm air from inside the engine bay.with 2 cold air feeds blowing on the filter i should see some power gains? aad 0
mine sits at bottom near vent mines made from flexi ducting with blackwater proof tape rapped around it with a piece of plastic drainpipe for connection to samco hose then 2 s/c but even with splash guard filter tends to get dirty quickly.
