Geastb 0
I need to replace both my front and rear disks soon and i'm looking for recomendations please? My car is and early VR so has the smaller disks - would it be worth getting a conversion kit to get bigger disks? What from? Thanks in advance!
wilko-vr6 0
audi tt discs?315mm dia.i'm thinking of doing that route!think standard,ie.not grooved or drilled are about £70.00 from ecp?then either make some brackets for your old calipers,or better still, grab yourself some tt calipers?????just a thought! acf8181 0
if you don't overheat your brakes (get brake fade) get the proper ones from your vw rip off merchant.uprated stuff is not good when cold, si if you don't need to handle extra heat, theres no point sacrificing cold performance. Pittuf 0
I can vouch for that, I had EBC drilled and grooved and greenstuff pads on my fieats and there was quite a noticable difference when they were cold. They looked the nuts tho.
wilko-vr6 0
standard brakes on a vr are getting close to near shit in performance!ever wondered why the later mk3's have slightly bigger discs?bigger diameter discs surely work better than smaller?!?!?!granted i'm not a fan of discs with grooves or drillings.however,if you put braided hoses on,and a set of tt calipers and discs,i'm sure they must be as progressive as oe brakes, and as for warming up,you can't have performance without sacrificing a little warming up period eh????i know what i'd rather have stopping me!i'll keep you posted on my 315 mm disc conversion(compared to my 280 discs at present!) jamieVR6 0
Would be interested to see how the conversion goes, might try it myself if it's good. What about clearance? Are the callipers much bigger than oe vr6 ones?
six appeal 53
I'm in the process of fitting TT discs using standard 288mm (late VR) Calipers, will keep you all posted. Seems very cheap and easy, just not sure they'll clear my bolts on my split rims. (
Eat this 2
im quite happy with stock brakes although it might have greenstuff pads its a BIG difference from cav sri brakes though lol but then i havnt given it an extended thrash yet
acf8181 0
yeah, all vauxhalls are very underbraked...two hard stops is enough to fade them completely! lol
