Clutch problem?

I think there's something wrong with my clutch on my 97 VR6 Highline. When pulling away, there is very limited power, and its only if I floor it, that it really kicks in, around 3500-4000 rpm. At first I though it was wheelspinning, but it definitly isn't!

Any ideas??

Its in all gears. It takes off when I hit around 3500-4000rpm

Does it make any funny noises where does the clutch start biting when you let your clutch pedal up if its near the top it sounds very much like your clutch is slipping and its time for a new 1

No funny noises at all and the biting point is right at the top. How much am I looking at for a new one fitted???

seems more like timing chains skipped a tooth to me

not sure but id get it done asap if it skips any more teeth its bye bye top end i know a man who does know though il ask

Could be your cam sensor which is very quick and easy to replace and the symptoms of a faulty one is a loss of around 20-30bhp and a big flat spot. However sounds more like timing is out... has any work been done on it recently?

if its clutch slip your rev counter will go up but your car will hardly move and it should slip right through past where your saying and in fact lower down should be less slip til you put foot down i too would get your timing checked and if car has done over 100000 you might need to get new timing chain tensioners and chains sorted.and like has been said if your timing has slipped out of line you need to get this sorted asap or you will kill your engine mate.

Thanks for all your advice. The clutch died today! Gutted! Oh well, its in the garage, and will be ready tomorrow afternoon!!! Wahey!!!
