matth76 1
HiI'm sure this has been covered before but what wax does everyone use to make their car nice and shiny? Which products are long lasting and protective (how longer lasting) and which products are crap?I use the Turtle Wax metallic car wax... which is in the blue bottle... nice and easy to apply (just apply, let dry and buff off) and seems to last a while. I haven't yet used any kind of polish as that is slightly abrasive so I understand - I may apply it once or twice a year if it needs it. Wax not only makes the car shiny but protects it (although mine doesn't stop birds muck eating into the paint work!!! ...do any protect against this?)CheersMatt

matth76 1
Nice! What size wheels do you have and how much is it lowered by? I forgot to mention where do you all buy your wax from?Is carnuba wax very good... does this protect against birds muck? How long does it last and where could I get some? Also is Zymol any good? How long does it last and how much is it... is there any kind of prep to do before applying any of the waxes (other than washing and 'chamying' it)?
Matt W 4
The wheels are the 20th Anniversary GTI BBS RS2 or RX2 16"x7 depending on who you speak to and what you know! No idea how much it is lowered by as it has KW V1 coilovers and i've messed with the height a lot and never bothered to measure it. I also have spacers fitted to the wheels in those pictures to bring them level with the arches. But to run it like that i'll need to have the arches rolled at some point. As to products Zymöl are supposed to be really good as is P21S along with Meguiars. I think there should be a Meguiars outlet online and there definately is for Zymöl and P21S.Meguiarshttp://www.meguiars.co.ukZymölhttp://www.vertar.co.ukP21Shttp://www.thepolishingcompany.comYou'll find they all carry more than just wax and you'll be able to get all you need to completely clean your car from top to bottom, inside and out! Seademon 0
They are the BBS RX wheels :0) RX2's are the splits.I use P21s on mine & the meguiars wax on my RX2's to keep the rims in top nick. Both work wonders on my paint but I'd say that the P21S is better on my paint & is a carnuba wax.Jahre GTI - what spacers are you running as thats what I want to do to mine, they sit too far in for my liking! What offset are your BBS? My wheels are ET35.

ingham 5
I used Meguiars clay bar then Meguiars NXT .has lasted well on my car
matth76 1
What does a clay bar do? Is that something to do with 'preparation'? Does anyone here use Zymol? What preparation is required exactly (other than washing the car beforehand)? Is there any particular "type" of Zymol to go for or is it just one type of wax? Does Zymol contain any polish or is it just mainly carnuba wax? Does it last a long time?Is Meguiars NXT the carnuba wax? Ideally I'd just like to get the wax on its own. Is any preparation needed for this (other than washing beforehand)? How often does this have to be applied, or how long does it last normally?Cheers for your help guys. binliner 0
Clay bar removes crap from the surface of the paintCarnuba wax is a type of wax used in most quaity brandsId recommend the following basic steps to get a good shine, some people do a lot more some do a lot less!... wash & dry (weekly)clay bar (twice a year) polish (twice a year) wax (monthly/before a show)I use P21S shampoo, polish & wash but if you dont want to do as much work as above and just want to wash and wax it Id go for megs NXT as it is more of an all in one rather than just a wax, it will fill minor swirl marks etc

Matt W 4
They are the BBS RX wheels :0) RX2's are the splits.Jahre GTI - what spacers are you running as thats what I want to do to mine' date=' they sit too far in for my liking! What offset are your BBS? My wheels are ET35.[/quote']They are splits as well and they are stamped RS727 and all the German brochures refer to them as RS2 but you are right they do look like the RX2 and everybody is 100% certain they are RX2 until i shoh them these pictures... :D As to the spacers i have 60mm at the back (30mm each side) and 40mm at the front (20mm each side). They are the H&R DRA ones and with those spacers they sit just right but in order to run the wheels like that everyday i am gonna need some arch work. But not sure if i'd be able to keep the wheel arch trims? !sad As that is part of the 20th Anniversary cars look! Hope that helps Regards,Matt

xyber 1
megs clay, autoglymn super resin and xtra gloss, then p21s carnubaliquid synthetic polishes and carnuba was polishes do different things to paint, in combining the two you will get the full effect and wet looking paint
