Clifford dual prox sensors/smart windows

Recommended Posts

I've had my concept 300 fitted.

When i went to pick it up today the installer told me that the smart windows wouldn't work unless he started cutting up circuit boards and wiring etc. ~:(

Also the box for the dual prox sensor has been fiited on the hump on the floor behind the rear ash tray, surely there must be a better place for it ?!

Anyone else got these bits fitted or experienced these problems?

Cheers

It took two days m8, they did have to take out the old one and i had intellistart fitted.

I must admit i didn't notice the sensor box untill I got home, so I'll be going back in tomorrow to ask the question, I know the dual prox sensors can be abit of b*tch but I heard that annoying chip enough times at inters to know they do go in.

Just thought i'd see if anyone had any experience with these specific options in the clifford range.

Cheers

that chirp may be annoying but it stops the aresholes out there from messing with your car!why do you think them cars at inters have them fitted?i have mine fitted and have no problems!!!

Ur right m8, I had it in my festa and I had no probs with it in that car, its just that the box is visible in the car, (it wasn't in the festa) any idea where they put it in your car?

As far as i know mine is either side of the handbrake behind the plastic. I have had no problems with mine at all and works perfectly, i did use a clifford dealer to fit it though, a bit more expensive but well worth it. Paid £500 for the Concept 500 fitted, going to be getting a few add ons soon like the tilt sensor and maybe remote start just to be flash.

Cheers vento, i've just had a scout on cgti forum and it seems that becuase mine is concept 300 the adjustment is manual, probably why it was put in an easily accesible area.

Think yours will be adjusted using the key fob so not a problem to have it hidden away.

dual zone prox can be hidden away we usually put them under the plastic surrounding the hand brake as well. adjustment on the concept 300 is manual. if smart windows not workin compare overall price with concept 500 as it has same as concept 600, remote control over the prox sensor and also allows you to shut just the external zone of the prox sensor down if you are in a busy area. cannot do that on manual adjustment prox sensors. also do not put coins above or near prox as interferes with microwave signal and can cause false alarms.

Cheers grayo, I've already decided to go for one of the new range clifford alarms, probably the intelliguard 850.

I'll have all the stuff you mentioned plus blackjax and probably a few other features I don't know about yet.

Apparently the smart windows don't work very well with cars that already have one touch windows. They can be made to work but it means cutting up circuit boards, breaking into the motors and a whole lot of hassle, don't know what your thoughts are on this?

Of coarse you can always use a couple of the outlets to work the windows, which wouldn't be as good as smart windows, but would at least let you vent them a bit.

Nick, the samrt windows were a clifford add on. Basically they allow you to vent the windows slightly once the alarm has been armed.

It goes thus - arm alarm, press arm and boot release buttons together and windows open a small amount, press them again they open a bit more and so on.

It also makes non one touch windows one touch as in my fiesta.

It would appear that it is possible to use the extra ports on the alarm to get the windows to start/stop using the keyfob anyway. Really this feature (on my festa at least) was good, but the golf being abit more advanced doesn't really need it.

I would say it should go off when you rock the car, however if you leave your car on a road you don't want it going off when every car or truck goes by!

Its difficult to say.

And yes the little box on the windscreen is the keyfob receiver.

The proximity sensors should be hidden away, usually in your handbrake cover.
