Spark plugs and supercharger.

Recommended Posts

I have been driven 75000 miles with VR6`s. Only sparkplugs Ive been using are NGK BKR5EKU. And they have always been great to have in the engine.

But now I have a Z-Engineering ZR2 blower, and im wondering if the BKR5EKU is still up to the job? I get REALLY good deal`s on NGK plugs. Thats the reason why I have always used it.

My supplier could get me these as well: NGK platinaplug BKR5EKUP.

Somewhere in the back off my head I have been reading about NOT to put platina on VR6`s... Was it VF-Engineering whos said that? Or EIP? Cant remember.

Anyone have suggestions? About the price on the products I dont care. Just give me good advices. ;)

I use NGK BKR6E which is one grade colder than the stock plug. I've also used Bosch F6DTC off mrk 2 Golf 16v which also work well.

Strange thing is that both my OBD1 cars have been running much warmer than my OBD2 that I have now. The oil temp is 78-82 C on normal driving. Water is always 90 C.

Car runs fine, but its so much snow right now, so its not any reason to even start up the car. Totaly chaos ~:(

Iridium! If you get a deal on NGK there's nothing better. Over here with our crap gas (92 ron)(best you can get in the states unless you coinup and buy AV gas), on a hot day 110F the knock sensor doesn't keep up. Electrodes loose there sharp cormers very quickly. Bosch plats electrodes disappear up there ceramic centers. The two, three, and four electrode plugs don't last any longer than a good single. Iridium is the hardest plug electrode that can be had, and any first year chem student can tell you it will take the heat.

Have used BKR5EUP, BK6EIRX (iridium) and Bosch 16V ones on mine and it runs best on the Bosch 16V ones. You get so much horsesh1t surrounding plugs and HT leads. Just use the Golf ones, they're pence compared to the Iridiums, and Iridiums don't last half as long as claimed in a VR6 running a charger. I change them yearly, regardless, so might aswell use the cheap ones.
