This was my vr at Januarys No Rice in Fleet, standard, clean and ready for some mods.

A week later having only had the car for 4 months, driving on a dual carriageway, a deer decides to jump out in front of me and trying to avoid it, i lost the back end and managed to find the woods. Off a 15 foot drop at 60, through some smaller trees (its surprising how easily side windows break when your head hits them) and into a good, solid tree which stopped me. oops.

Shows the strength of VW's (engine still works for short periods and can just about be driven with no steering) although for some reason neither of my airbags popped out even though they were meant to be working. hmmm

Yeah, i'm fine. not a scratch which was lucky considering. Definately on the look out for another nice vr at the mo. I'll probably wait till the summer to get one unless something special pops up. In the mean time i'm driving my mums Peugeot 306 DTurbo (the turbo tractor) which is quite something! Really want to get back behind the wheel of a vr though. Know anyone thats selling one?

Yeah, luckily im fully comp with protected no claims so shouldnt miss out there although my excess is £600 so im gonna have to sell my mk2 to get enough for a new vr.

Katie, although it may not appear so, deer are actually harder than most chavs and therefore do more damage when you hit them. Also, they have those little, spindly legs (as do most chavs) which will snap, leaving the rest of the deer at just about the right height to enter the car through the windscreen (whereas a chav would usually use a side window) and land on you which could be painful. As could hitting a tree. Its a no-win situation. But none the less, i think i'm choose the hit and hope option next time.

Cheers

Pete
