Guest vb Posted March 5, 2006 Report Share Posted March 5, 2006 Hey Guys,I have a 94VR6 with a dealer motorsport kit on it. She has run fine till i tried to start it the other day. As i started it there was a loud bang (like a backfire back through intake side). Since that she had a slight miss all through rev range. Lately it has become a lot worse and now sounds and feels like rear bank isnt working at all. She is using a lot more fuel, stinks and barely goes. Checked plugs and wires and seem ok, cant here or feel any air leaks (but might have missed one).Sorry so long but trying to give as much back ground as possible. Any ideas??? Thanks in advance! Guest vb Posted March 6, 2006 Report Share Posted March 6, 2006 Thanks guys,just some more info, i put a timing light on each of the wires and found that the rear bank is firing approximately half as many times as front bank (it varies but fairly consistent that it is less often than the front 3 cylinders).Also had a look for visible cracks and in the dark and could not see anything on coil pack (it is still installed so it might be internal or not visible from standing outside engine bay. 28v6r 0 Posted March 6, 2006 Report Share Posted March 6, 2006 Do the routine test, spray the coil pack lightly with water to see if the coil pack is cracked, the misfire will appear...once done you could always dry the coil pack outwith a strong heat, spray liberally in WD40 then coat in Silicone Grease or epoxy resin...RE: The backfire could also be the lambda probe failed or a choked Cat..The lamda probe would cause the car to overfuel hence rich, hence backfire...
