VR mileage

How crucial is low mileage on VR rado's and Golfs??

Understand VDubs will go on forever if looked after properly but cars im looking at are 10+ years old.....

Any suggestions or major look outs?

low mileage isnt necessarily good sometimes! it may mean some old biddy has been driving it round for 2 minute journeys all its life which can do more harm than good to an engine! be guided by the cars condition and what the car runs like and sounds like bills and reciepts for work are good pointers if its had regular oil and service parts

the vr seems to be better on the high miles if seviced regular the one i sold had 151,000 and was spot on no oil no water not even the timing chains done but it had full service history and was a great car to drive some vrs have done only 70,000 and need timing chains doing and head gasket and other jobs doing is because of all the short journeys or is it because driving it hard when cold

121,000 miles and counting on mine.

Not a rattle insight and the only engine work It's had done is a water pump :-)

My mates has 220k o it and still makes regular trips to the 'ring!

What about ovalisation of the bores on 1 and 6? I've heard this can be a real problem with the 2.9s.
