andysteele 0
hello all..just pop in to my local dealer to pick up a set of plug leads i ordered for my 94 VR6, non-distrubutor type. The leads are RED. kind of shocked me... the old (original) ones are black. Anyone else get these? The guy at the parts desk said he had only had to get 3 sets ever and all came red...... FishWick 21
If they're made by Beru, don't complain, they are the best. And yep, VW fitted red leads at the factory. Your black ones probably aren't original.
andysteele 0
really, thats good to know.... could be the reason why I`ve got a little splutter! I hope so since they cost so much!!!! They`re in a box in the motor at the mo, I`ll go check who made them on my lunch break!thanks... doing the 110k service next weekend

GeK 0
i havent got the invoice on me but i paid about £120 for mine... the bloke in the parts dept of the dealership must have felt sorry for me as he gave a little discount (thanks CD Brammal - Cheltenham)Bit off topic so apologies' date=' but do you live in Cheltenham Andy? I've used CD's a few times but have never really rated them.*edit* just checked your profile and you do, where abouts?[ Edited Mon May 24 2004, 01:21PM ']
andysteele 0
CD's have never been great with me.... dont fill me with confidence and always have to order stuff... when I lived in Stoke I used Premier in Leek who were fantastic... got to know the parts people and they do a loyalty card.... But CD's are closest and can get the parts I need.....and yes, I do live in Cheltenham.... Warden Hill area, south of town... you?
GeK 0
Fairview. Each time I have had mine serviced at CD's it comes back with something broken. For example, they put new discs and pads on the back and the abs light starts coming on over 90mph.They tell me it's the ABS sensor on, yes you guessed it, the rear nearside. £300+ to replace. They wouldn't admit that they had anything to do with it either.Problem is my aircon keeps playing up and they are they only local place I can find that does aircon
andysteele 0
o no... i have done my own servicing on the VR6 so dont take it to them... £300 quid for an ABS sensor sounds very steep too....Mines going to MJM's near the station for MOT in a few weeks, they say thwey are VW specialist so we`ll see.... hope it passes as my ABS light keep coming on, and at less than 90!i hate the labour charges you get from a dealer hourly rate is vast
GeK 0
I take mine to JMS in the centre of town for MOTs and other stuff (not servicing). They don't have vag.com but the guy there is ex CD's and a good bloke.
