matth76 1
HiEIP apparently do inlet/intake manifold for a n/a golf vr6 and claims gains of up to 10bhp and 10 lbs/ft torque. Not as much torque increase as a Shrick but more than half the price (selling for $500 in the US). Is an EIP inlet manifold a good quality product? Is it worth it and can it be purchased in this country?Has anyone used or know anyone who has used one of these?CheersMatt
Eat this 2
never heard of it
mattverth 0
Its a mildly worked 2.9l manifold. Looks good, cost lot for what it is. You are paying for them to paint it and slap their name on the top too.
binliner 0
I think they just open up the back and weld a plate across a 2.8 manifold to make it like a 2.9 or is there more to it than that? vwvortex will be the place to find out but it wont make anywhere near the difference a schrick will
badboyV6 4
http://www.eiptuning.com/ecomm/proddetail.php?prod=E0208001found an article on a guy whos tried the eip and the shrick. Shrick wins hands down... this guy did some serious testing with his shrick as well- even going as far as thermachroming (i think) the inside to cut down on heat soak... mental. by the time you ship it over your looking at 500- 600 quid. MAy as well save the extra and get a shrick...
TVR6 0
Couldn't see the article, just a link to EIP. You have to admit that it's a good looking product. As for performance versus the Shrick, does anyone know for sure? The Shrick is still twice the price...
antera309 3
The EIP is a ported 2.9 manifold. It will improve airflow but does not have the variable tract length facility of the VSR or the Schrick manifolds. In combination with an enlarged throttle body, I imagine it will improve top end power, but will not boost low down torque like the Schrick does.It does look nice, though! FishWick 21
I remember the article fourmotion linked. He did exhaustive back-to-back testing of standard v Shrek v EIP and the shrek won by miles....mainly because the Shrek is designed to improve torque and the EIP one is just to improve air flow rate, which will only improve the top end.As binliner says, EIP's is just a copy of our 2.9 manifold.....they cut up and plate 2.8 mannies and make em pretty... mattverth 0
Still, the shrick looks a bit of a dogs dinner, and the eip retains a factory look. I'd have it with a set of hot cams...if someone gave them to me....
dubloke 4
never had anyone call my schrick a dogs dinner, dogs danglies a few times, but never that! given that, even if it was an ugly addition, there's no doubting its abilities out on the road!
ingham 5
i can get yours done if you want, not hard just the cost of the alloy welding and plate a little grinding near tb
