snares123 0
thinking bout gettin mine enlarged everyone says its brill on an 1993 golf, but no one has told me bhp increase any ideas???????
FishWick 21
It won't show up as a gain on the rollers but it will improve throttle response and top end vigour.
snares123 0
what can i do to boost bhp then?i only have a lil budget

snares123 0
got about £200 max to start, what sorta power increase would i expect from that?
mk3anni 0
Fuck all TBH.Could get an induction kit.
FishWick 21
£200 I'm sorry to say will barely touch a VR! Stealth have found that a BMC CDA filter liberated 7hp on a Golf VR once, and it costs about £160ish IIRC.
Slim 0
Surely improved thottle response is far more important than a couple of extra bhp on a rolling road?
katconcarne 0
i agree with slim, you'll feel the difference from a TB... that's the main thing! !lol
dubloke 4
defo makes a difference to the throttle response!
snares123 0
i got an indution kit on it already, came wit da car.what sorta difference would the throttle body make then i aint to technical minded anyone help.does it give faster acceleration or sumin?
jezmoz 0
AM i thick or summat but how does the rest of the stuff fit onto an oversized throttle body, the one i've seen looks massive???? Is it Alpine or someone who sells them, i've been interested in one for ages but couldn't see how they would fit????
fritzenberg 3
it`s the inside that`s bigger jez,the fixing holes are in the same place as the old one

snares123 0
get it quick before it goes
FishWick 21
Those XXL throttles don't actually have a bigger butterfly. Alpina527@aol.com (Ian) does throttles with bigger butterflies, about 63mm I think (2mm more than standard). You can also get 67mm VR throttles and it's huuuuuge! The best way to improve engine pick up for £200 is lighten the flywheel. It's about 15lbs as standard, take it down to 7lbs and the engine will spin up like it's on drugs.
Slim 0
Are there any available for OBD2 engines? I need a new TB anyway so I'd be as well upgrading while I have my wallet open.
FishWick 21
Nope, OBD2 throttles are sealed for life, you can't do anything with them other than grind down the ramp. It's the larger butterfly that actually gives the gains, polishing does sweet fa.
RIX 0
kev std. obd1s are 64mm,std. obd2s are 72mm,could you show me a picture where too grind the obd2 TB,cause the one i saw was perfect, you could not grind it at all????????
snares123 0
ive spoke to micheal who made the throttle body the one i bought cannot be modified any more than it has.bored to the max with big butterfly!!! cant wait to see the difference
