Guest Olly_K
um........so if vince is off all week, mine wont get remapped ?
Mangold 0
Just to add another twist to this story, I had mine remapped at AMD on friday and they tell me my electronic control box for the Schrick is faulty! Its intermittantly controlling the flap My Flap does operate no probs though if thats any consolation? No sticking!
blackburnvr6 0
how easy shoud the rod that controls the flap move ?
jcorallo 0
you can use the engines own vacuum signal to make the actuator work:1) disconnect the vac line that goes to the actuator2) obtain a spare 1metre length of vac tubing3) start the engine and allow it to tick over4) using the spare bit of vac tubing attach one end to the actuator5) undo the pipe where you tee'd into the fuel pressure regulator line which goes to the Schrick vac reservoir6) attach the other end of the spare vac tubing to this location.7) actuator should operate and quickly flip the flap to the open.8) undo the spare vac line, and the flap should flip back to the closed position.9) as long as it swithes fully, in a 'flick of the wrist' type speed, then all is OK10) you might want to try this experiment with the engine hot and also cold - to make sure that when its all expanded, that it still works OK.So all you are doing is applying a vacuum to the actuator - on and off and seeing the actuator move.Jules
Desire68 0
Well guy's,picked up the car this afternoon.Vince was still sick as a dog but came in to sort my car out(what a top bloke!!) and i can now confirm that the car has been transformed into an animal!!Firstly, the increase in torque has mad the normally heavy lazy feeling, into a very spirited and light get up and go!! The car realy does feel much lighter now due to the torque and the pedal response is instant!Even befor the magic 4K mark the car feels so responsive and after the 4K it's simply heaven! Now having said all that,my car is only producing 200bhp but Vince said that this would be due to the cylinder head having done 110K,so a rebuild will be planned for the future but he said there's no need to rush into this so i'll probably do this next year!Next is the sound, the usual deep note has gone, and is now replaced with an even deeper one!I drove back home with the stereo off just so i could enjoy the induction note, that BMC kit is worth every penny and it looks good in the engin bay.So the result is one great looking engin which not only now goes exceptionally well but also sounds like it!!Well pleased!!Mike. dubloke 4
really pleased for you mike, is that flywheel figure of 200bhp, even with the cams as well? was hoping for a little more than that with mine and not having the cams yet! still, from all the responses to the fitted schricks i can at least expect it to pick up better than it does now(although no complaints in that dept anyhow!) and a load more grunt without resorting to boyracer stylee revving nuts off engine! cheers for the piccies once more mike :-)
Desire68 0
Flywheel/@the wheels,I allways seem to get this wrong, but i do know that it is under what was expected by about 5bhp.Vince said that this was due to the warmer weather and the cylinder head being 110k old and needing a rebuild in the future, but were not too worried about this and i'll try to get it done next year, but for now it's all about driving the thing!!Mike. 8o)
VRmonster 1
what chip did he fit, or is it a specific one for a schricked up vehicle?
Desire68 0
It's called the Unichip, don't know if it's Schrick Specific though!Mike.
VRmonster 1
k, just thaught it may have been a dastek, as i would like more info on chips. but cant be assed calling anyone as i wont be doing this for a few months.
dubloke 4
the unichip is a piggy back chip in conjunction with the original ecu. it allows you to re-map it should you perform more/any modification to the engine in the future, at the cost of a rr session, instead of forking out for another complete chip program! hope that helps![ Edited Tue May 25 2004, 08:31PM ]

Desire68 0
Cheers Steve/Nick,She's very smooth with loads more power, all lazyness has gone and due to the torque she feels much lighter with a perfect pedal response. If your getting the same work done then you won't be dissapointed! My only advice is to get a RADAR DETECTOR! caus you'll need it now!!Mike
antera309 3
My only advice is to get a RADAR DETECTOR! caus you'll need it now!!Got one. Origin B2. Methinks it will be getting a lot more use now my VR is Schrick'd' date=' Cam'd & chipped up!Very impressed with the conversion!. Very easy now to go faster than I think I'm going.
