Slim 0
If they don't last long it'll only be because Toyo are notorious for wearing quickly. I've got 195 width tyres on my 7.5" wide 17's and I don't envisage any problems.
Earwig 89
Talking crap ! :-)People who fit tyres are usually pretty arrogant and think they know more than they do. Makes them feel more important in the world. When I got my tryes fitted a while ago I was told I was "Stupid" for lowering it. Hahahaha. They guy said to me...."Do you not think VW knew what they were doing when they designed and built it? "I laughed at him and said......"No, not really":-)
Whitedog 0
if you were to fit these wheels with the 225 tyres would they cause rubbing??? is that why people change them to 205??

Guy 1
my bro inlaw has the same wheels on his mk3 and has had no end of tyre issues and he is progressivly going down in size. I suggested 205/40/17 but he wanted not to have a stretched look and is on 215/40/17 he is very close to the arches (rolled) but has no touching as yet, he had to adjust the ride height to suit a little though and gets a better ride nmow as he has softened the ride up on the damper. I thought a dealership would be the worst to moan about mods!
