matth76 1
Hi mate. Lots of good cat back exhausts out there. I personally chose Milltek because it isn't loud ...just slightly deeper than stock unless you floor it when it will really howl... and with a BMC when you accelerate it's like a growling muscle car! The Milltek fits absolutely perfectly. Even Stealth who do all brands said it fitted extremely well and was very good quality. However Supersprint and Jetex are supposed to be very good too. Jetex is bigger at 2.5" bore and will also sound louder too than a Milltek. Supersprint will have the same noise level as a Milltek. Supersprint are supposed to be very good but also the most expensive I think. Magnex also do good exhausts and are fairly loud too. Decats are good if you are arsed to put the cat back on each time you have an MOT... they will give 5-10bhp in conjunction with an air filter so certainly free up the system. Alternative to a cat bypass is a high flow cat which will give a similar increase and are totally legal but downside is the cost of them - pretty expensive!
Slim 0
Can't go wrong with Supersprint, especially if you hate loud exhausts. Supersprints fit far better than Millteks (according to the elading Scottish VW tuner who's a distributer for both brands).
golf on 20s 1
ive got a magnex on mine and im really happy with it , driving around normally it really aint loud but when the hammer goes down it sounds amazing!!! im also running a supersprint de-cat pipe and a ram air induction kit,
stuey 0
I have a Milltek on mine, booms at 1700-2500rpm, fit was rubbish with tailpipe at an angle, ended up going to Milltek factory who straightened the tailpipe but couldn't fix the boom. I don't think it sounds all that either, not what i had expected. I wish i had paid extra for the Supersprint, or maybe tried a Jetex instead !sad
Zonda_ 0
Longlife. They custom build it to your car and you get a choice of tailpipe. You can even specify the noise. Best of all they have a lifetime guarantee.

FishWick 21
I have a Milltek on mine' date=' booms at 1700-2500rpm, fit was rubbish with tailpipe at an angle, ended up going to Milltek factory who straightened the tailpipe but couldn't fix the boom. I wish i had paid extra for the Supersprint, or maybe tried a Jetex instead !sad [/quote']Had exactly the same problem and I also went to Nottingham to get it sorted by Milltek themselves. They added a 3rd box to try and cut the noise, didn't make any difference, and likewise, the hangers were welded in the wrong place and it didn't fit properly. The damn exhaust gave me a headache by the time I got home.Got a Supersprint on now (stainless back box) and it is in a completely different league quality wise and the noise levels aren't much more than stock, it's almost completely silent from 3500rpm onwards. Perfect for motorway cruising.
matth76 1
My Milltek fitted perfectly. All comes down to fitment...AND how it comes out the factory - occasionally you will get dud products.. which is a real hassle but sod's law. Stealth who fitted it said it was a really good quality exhaust and were very impressed with it. As with the supersprint you can cruise at 70-80mph and it is silent.. until you want to floor it and then it sounds how a vr6 should sound! Comes down to personal preference. stuey 0
Hi Kevhaywire, they made a third silencer for mine too, a straight one after the cat, didn't do anything to be honest. Mine was fitted at Stealth too, but they had no chance, it was never going to fit properly whoever fitted it. I wish i had tried rejecting it at the time straight back to Milltek, i wouldn't want Vince to lose out it's not his fault it was rubbish.
RIX 0
there is no subsistuet for a hartmann exhust, fitt´s perfekt every time and for the front wheel driven boy´s it´s a woping 70mm(the pipe).
Devildub_06 0
I have a Sorpion cat back system on mine, with a boxer tailpipe. Now i've put about 50 miles on it, it's opened out into a right animal. The fit and quality are excellent, but it is a touch on the loud side!!! All down to preference, but I like it! Cost was £358.
VR6_Absy 0
I've recently had a Longlife cat back fitted and straight away i noticed a big improvement in power, mpg and sound. Two days ago i had the cat taken off and Longlife made a bypass pipe which has unleashed even more power. The sound is fantastic now i luv it it sounds like a right beast but when on a motorway it's quiet. Also fitted is a BMC CDA with the cold air feed fitted to help it breath in.BMC CDA and a Longlife cat back and bypass seems to be an excellent combo. GET ONE.
