eViL 0
Actually no.. I've had another look and it is an old Z Charger, it's just the polished version!
mightyvr6 0
The maf can be positioned on either side of the charger. Whether the maf is sucked through or blown through the readings should be the same.
zerocool 0
my car is an obd2 and it has the maf between the charger and throttle body,it runs perfect.you definatly need a chip, try vince at stealth racing.also,if you have the maf before the charger you will need a different chip,to having it after.so once its chipped don't go moving the maf around.you also need to get a proper silocone flexi pipe from the maf to throttle body, you should have got one with kit.I got mine from nic saran, but he was a nightmare to get hold of,and parts where missing from my kit.one important thing is make sure you have the maf sensor in the right way round, with arrow on it poiting towards the throttle body,if it isn't it will run very very badly
mightyvr6 0
doesn't your car run rich off throttle though? When the throttle butterfly is closed, air from the supercharger is still being blown through the maf which tells the ecu to add more fuel, even though the engine is not getting more air? I've seen an obd2 charged vr6 with maf after charger and it didn't idle very smoothly? Leaving the maf after the charger on obd1 kills it due to turbulence. Some reasons why all recent supercharger kits run the maf before the blower.
just2zang 0
Looking at this picture' date=' the pipe thats in the middle to the right, is the one that connects the MAF to the throttle body.It looks like its the right length - as you can see, one side of it is a bit longer than the other. For reference, it actually fits in the engine bay the other way round as shown in the pic above.Jules[/quote']yep its definately won't fit because the pipe from the maf to the charger has been cut really badly and all in all I need 1 inch more piping. I definately need to sort the breather pipe, thanks guys..doesn't your car run rich off throttle though? Its supposed to be a zr2?

I can see why i need the one way one way valve now
mightyvr6 0
the breather is supposed to go ito the supercharger intake hose (where you've blocked the hose with a bolt). I'm not sure there is a before and after chip. Mine is obd1 and it runs ok with the maf on either side in terms of air/fueling. The maf measures the same amount of air whether it's before or after the charger. NS *should* be able to get you a chip or buy one directly from z-engineering.
zerocool 0
my car idles fine with the maf after the charger.although obd2 cars do respond a lot better to the supercharger than obd1 carsaccording to vince at stealth racing, there is a different chip needed ,if you put the maf before the charger. mightyvr6 0
The fueling is supposed to be more precise with obd2 but I'm not sure how they respond better than obd1. Can't see why a different chip would be required if the maf was before the charger. Anyone?
zerocool 0
maybe vince can clear this up,it was him that told me this too.I must admit he seems to know his stuff
mightyvr6 0
yes, it would be interesting to know. Zerocool, what's your charger/setup?
zerocool 0
I have a 98 highline engine in a golf rallye,z engineering chrager, with piggy back chip, and aqumist water injection, decat pipe.runs well apart from belt slip at high revs, any one else got probs with belt slip? mina 0
Hmmm....belt slip - what a complete pain in the arse! I'm fitting a dual idler pulley system this weekend - however it's for the Vortech chargers only. Thought Z-Engineering used toothed belts?
six appeal 53
Think only the later ones have toothed belts Mina

just2zang 0
got me pipes peeps, and the maf stays after the charger with no need for a dump valve, got a one way valve, 4 bar fuel pressure regulator, a vf engine mount and the z chip fitted. sweeeet. Will let u know how she's running after a good test drive 2morrow. Thank you all soooo much for your help. Dual idler pulley eh mina?? hehe. Was it from c2 motorsports? Looks like nice bit of kit!
