VR6Pete 1,455
I can now confirm that I suffer from the same problem as various other people with the butterfly not opening up when it's attached to the car. Steps Taken To Confirm; You should be able to get your finger down the side of the ford vacum unit that operates the butterfly, This should move quite easily up and down, but if your's doesnt you may have a faulty manifold.Loosen the front bolts of the manifold and try the above prodecure, If you have a faulty manifold you wont be able to move the rod in the vacuum unit quite easily. Let me know how you get on, If you suspect you have a faulty manifold, please post here. RegardsVR6Pete[ Edited ][ Edited ]
Desire68 0
I have made Vince aware that there are some others with this problem and on testing the manifolds with a head on the bench he has found some more! All is not lost though as mine has now been sorted by Vince who is sick by the way and still came in to get some work done!! So it would seem that the problem with the manifold can be fixed, just puts more time on things!I'll be collecting the car early next week so i'll let you all know how that goes then!! eViL 0
Er hang on.. so if it DOES move easily it's faulty?or is it the other way round.. your advice says either way it's faulty.. I think..*tears beard out - no hair left to tear out*
eViL 0
How's about a little suck on the Vacuum instead? If the flap moves under vacuum then it's ok I presume..BAH!
kilokilla 0
basically when all tightened up petes flap wont budge its stuck.
Desire68 0
Thats right KiloKilla, but only when it's on the head and not when it's out of the car!!
eViL 0
Mine seems ok. Pete you need to edit your first post mate.Handy hint - As I've said before - Suck the vacuum to see if your flap is turning. I presume it is ok if it opens and closes under vacuum (whilst sucking it).Make sure all of your Bolts are torqued up before testing it..Mine seems ok.
eViL 0
Thats right KiloKilla' date='but only when it's on the head and not when it's out of the car!![/quote']I can't see what difference this makes.. VERY strange.
VR6Pete 1,455
well it does make a difference, it much pinch the butterfly up when it's fully toreqed up
eViL 0
f00k. Guess I'd better slap it on on Sunday then.
FishWick 21
Oh dear....not another one! Is this Schrick's way of showing their disdain for letting them out of the doors at such a bargain price? What annoys me is I'm pretty sure Schrick have known about this problem for a while now because Vince mentioned jamming flaps to me last year! Guest Olly_K
this is so gay. It looks as if the whole lot are faulty. FFS !

dubloke 4
i'm starting to get worried on this one now, as i haven't even seen mine yet(except some piccies sent to me by mike tongue) as vince took it to be fully polished b4 it gets fitted! how does this stand me if its faulty, will i be able to get an exchange one now, or is it an easier fix than that by the hand of god(vince)?
Guest Olly_K
from what i've read he may be able to fix them I tried phoning him today but he was off sick. I dont think you'd have a problem sending yours back dubloke, but i'd be more worried about the fact i might have to pay out again to get another one polished ! I have no fingernails left ! dubloke 4
well, a couple have people have said i should have no worries really, as all the work is being done through stealth themselves. i haven't paid for the polishing yet, was gonna pay all in one go for the polishing/fitment/re-map when vince has my car in! reading all the stories of sticky b/flies though, it does raise some concerns, not least the fact after spending over 30k with schrick, that you would get a quality prouduct that works! eViL 0
I agree with that entirely. For the price you expect precision engineering because after checking the manifold out, it's not exactly a mechanical Labrynth is it?
Guest Olly_K
i agree too, unless they've knocked them out quickly and bodged it.We'll see
dubloke 4
well, i think given the probs with the vsr's so far, at the very least, schrick themselves should be covering the costs of any extra work thats necessary in fitting/removal of the manifolds in regard to them being incorrectly machined to start! i for one will not be willing to pay twice for polishing due to faulty work! i mean, who fits the manifold to see if it works then spends more having it removed immediately to be polished only to refit it again! why should we be footing the extra cost of incompetent workmanship with the cost of the manifolds to start with? what do you think guys? VR6Pete 1,455
Morning all,Good news, I've just spoken to Vince @ Stealth who informs me that the following manifolds are ok (whose are being fitted in the near future)Antera309Ollk_KDublokeMike Tonge... and all Manifolds that Stealth have waiting to be fitted will be in a working order for when you have them fitted. The manifolds have been sent to a UK Schrick Dealer and have been fixed and are now back at Stealth Racing in a working order, as for people who had received your manifolds via mail order from Stealth, I will be speaking to Vince on Monday for details on how this problem will be tackled.Regards,VR6Pete
Guest Olly_K
Top stuff Pete, well done my friend. Vince doesnt muck about does he ? Well done all !
dubloke 4
yeah, big cheer for the effort vince has put in to this buy! even on the sick he still produces the goods, is that enough reason for everyone to take their car to him in future! i think so!
Desire68 0
Well he will be getting my car from now on,I didn't even realise how close i live to the garage,Touch!mike.

VR6Pete 1,455
the black vacum unit in the centre of the manifold, put your finger down the left side as you are facing the car, you should be able to get your finger down there and lift the rod up.
