I live in the south east too but a visit to Stealth (is just over 2 hours away) is well worth it for a remap. If your car is ODB1 which it will be if its a 1993, then it will certainly gain a few horses (approx 5-10bhp, especially beneficial now you have an enlarged throttle body) as well as improved drivability. Far better than a superchip as you say...and the same price too (£300+vat). Cams will give a similar increase in power and the remap is normally needed with cams. The Phirm in the south east are very good. They're fitting cams for me in a couple of weeks. tell em Matt sent you :) A cat bypass or decat is a good mod (relatively cheap at less than £100) although it is illegal if stopped by the police but most evos and imprezas run them including quite a few on here...but needs swapping to the standard cat come MOT time..if you can be bothered. Gains are around 5bhp maybe more with a decat... or you can get a high flow cat which is totally legal and gives the same power gains but downside is the price! Good luck with your mods mate.

Some very high lift cams like 288's will give poor idling and only good power very high up the rev range. 268's, especially Shrick or Eurospec (the ones I'm having fitted) are supposed to give very good mid range power as well as top end, and idling is not affected much at all. I've got a full exhaust system but to be honest it didn't make much of a difference other than improving the looks and sound. It drives better but hasn't increased power that much ...the high flow cat did most of the increase. If your car is odb1 I would recommend a remap as you will get more power from your mods. An off the shelf chip can be good but is also risky ...unless it is a piggy back chip or remappable chip - similar to what Stealth do. When you modify the ECU in any way it has to absolutely spot on... I do recommend Stealth as they are by far one of the best around for the VR6..especially when it comes to remapping and chips and rolling road included (Stealth aren't expensive either)... well worth a one off 2-3 hours drive. If you're in Norfolk I would estimate they are approx 1.5 - 2hours tops from your location. They are about 45mins-1hour north of london up the M40. I haven't heard of the company you mention but if they are recommended go for a remap/chip (all done on their rolling road if they have one so you get a power output too) ...the remap will get the most from an ODB1 as opposed to just a 'chip' (won't have any power increase on the later ODB2 vr6 from mid-1995 onwards) but will give around 10bhp for your car as you have an ODB1.. a remap will be better than a chip for your car as you have an enlarged throttle body...so you could potentially be looking at more than 10bhp with a remap as opposed to a chip.

super info guys maybe i will think about going to stealth then. so i wanna ask for a remap and not a chip? this is getting confusing! if i get cams at a later stage will i have to pay another 300 to get it remaped again?could be costly in the future!!do stealth give you a rolling road session inc in the price as i would also be interested in what power etc im pumping out.

anyone got any ideas on what it would be? i am standard apart from pipercross induction and throttle body??

I'd get all your bits on first then have the car mapped to what you do. I've just had my whole engine re-built and bored to 2.9, I was going to get it mapped but I have just bought a charger and thought I'd have it all done at the same time. Deffo go for a map from Stealth as Vince can now map a standard ECU, a custom map to the characteristics of the car is far superior ;)
