Fix one problem find another

Recommended Posts

Replaced my coolant housing last week and changed to the lower temp thermostat and found the car was running alot cooler and solved my coolant leak. (£75 for the lot incl new seals & bolts)

I was on my way back from Skipton and was being challenged by a 911 didn't even think about racing him at first, then I thought his motor is going to be a 3.2 flat six and was 1981/82 so would be showing signs of old age, So into 3rd and blew him away and was supprised how quickly my car got to 140. Only problem was when I returned home and noticed the Water pump has started to leak & a split CV boot gearbox side

I've seen some threads on replacing the water pump and it seems a bit beyond my mechanical capabilities, does anyone know how to replace the CV boot?

its really not thay difficult to change the pump m8, and as 4 the c.v, its 6 spline bolts to the gearbox, and undo the 3 ball joint bolts to the wishbone and slide out the ball join then pull the driveshaft away from the gearbox.cut the old rubber away, now there is a sorta washer with a split in it holding the c.v on, u need to open this up and pull the c.v off of the spline, then put ur new greased up boot on :D, but if u take it to a garage they will prob do it for nxt to nothin??

thanks for the advice I'll just take it to the gargage and get a quote, If its a bit pricey I'll sort it myself, just like getting involved as my uncle use to fix my car in the past and I ain't use to garage bills.
