Smartin 0 Posted April 30, 2006 Report Share Posted April 30, 2006 hi, i've been reading the forums for a bit and i dont know a lot about cars. i want my vr6 to have a bit more on acceleration, what can i do? induction kit? exhaust? what else? is chipping dangerous for your engine? mines an automatic, does that make a difference? any advice will be gratefully recieved. You can put 250bhp through an auto box & should be reliable.If you want to get the best bhp per pound then a supercharger is the way to go, it all depends how far you want to go. [/quote']Miltek seems to be pretty popular amongst people here. You may have just missed out on a group buy for it :-(As for induction Kit I run a Pipercross on mine which I am very happy with. Gives some great noise :-)However most people on here go for the BNC carbon induction Kit. They rave about them but be warned they are very expensive at around £150. I can't speak for the RamAir as I have never used one or heard anything about them good or bad.I am sire someone who has one can comment for you though Mark. Link to post Share on other sites
antera309 3 Posted May 1, 2006 Report Share Posted May 1, 2006 With an Auto, I'd go for mods that boost power in the mid-range. Power at the top end of the rev range won't be so helpful because the 'box will be changing up before you get to it most of the time.A supercharger is the best thing you can do. Failing that, I'd say a Shrick manifold, 264 cams, BMC filter and a remap. Link to post Share on other sites

6potmkII 0 Posted May 1, 2006 Report Share Posted May 1, 2006 if you already have a couple grand, id wait a bit longer till you can afford a supercharger kit, as antera said, you want to increase your torque low down in the rev range so you can pull through those long ratio'd auto gears.you could get cams, chip, induction kit etc, keep it n/a, but you will mainly see the gains at the higher end of the rev range, so still will take a bit of time to get going! Not much if any increase in power was noticed though, just sounds faster when you are accelerating hard. (y) Link to post Share on other sites
vr6turbo 27 Posted May 6, 2006 Report Share Posted May 6, 2006 i drove my vr6 turbo automatic for three yearsrunning a stage 1 turbo kit @270 bhpthe gearbox gave up after year 3and the car had done 115.000 miles when i bought itso the auto box can take some wellie if its serviced properly,it was cheaper to do a manual conversion than get the box reconditioned, i was quoted £1200 exchange for a refurb Link to post Share on other sites
