Have a '96 VR6 with 90k on the clock which has broken my heart of late(jsut not workin how I want it 2) :@ +o( . Was considering binning it 4 a beefed up mk4 gti T but hated the ride. So anyways to get to the point - I'm willing to throw some cash in2 the VR to get it back up & running. What I want to know is who can overhaul(tunning company or vag specialists ect) the car from start to finish - make it almost like new(gearbox, clutch & engine - rebuild possibly)& maybe even a turbo-charge!! Also how much this would cost or is it like asking how long is a piece of string.Any info welcome & much appriciatedFitz Link to post Share on other sites

6potmkII 0 Posted May 3, 2006 Report Share Posted May 3, 2006 depends on how much your willing to spend mate.i wouldnt change the gearbox unless its eff'd too.at 90k, id start off with timing chains and new clutch as the box and fly wheels off. thatl prob cost you 260 ish on parts and about 250-300 labour.at the same time, if you want to build the engine for turbo, get metal head gasket and cams as the chains are off.then all the things thatl make it run well like new afm, new leads, plugs service etcagain depends on how much you wana spend, if you want to run big boost, youl need to go into lower comp pistons, and a rebuild, big end bearings, arp conrod/head bolts etchope this all makes sense as im at work and dont want to get caught on the net lolkomi Link to post Share on other sites

Turbo would be nice but have not fully decided must talk to the insurance co. So new time chain,clutch & fly wheel. Anything else lads??
