johnemerson38 1
i just finished fitting a new sump for my s/c and just out of intrest i looked up and to my surprise on the crank it has writing on it saying 5.2 on the bearings and the weights on it to look funny as it had scoring on them it a weird patten to they might have been lightened but here are some pics to see what you all think please note when i bought the car i was told it a 3166cc but had no paper work to prove the work but i wasnt assed if it was or wasnt as it it was a syncro and got a dyno and it pulled 202 bhp and around the same in torque so and veiws would be great
6potmkII 0
thats normal mate, i saw the same "5.2" 's on the conrods and scores on the crank when i done the big ends on my last vr6.and the crank shaft, is the main shaft that runs through the block. its is what the conrods (attatched to the pistons) are attatched to. the parts where all the 'scores' are, is part of the crank

jb9999 0
Probably just a confirmation mark used during the assembly process to ensure that the bearings have been torqued off. I work in the car manufacturing industry and confirmation marks are standard procedure on anything that has a torque rating, especially vital ones.
