Hi guys, first visit here!

Was after a bit of advice as there are no decent specialists up here! Basically the 2.8VR (110k FVWSH) had low comp on all cylinders. Looked into it and accompanied with a bit of blue smoke it pointed to the rings. I had these changed a few days agao (honed and glazed) and compressions are still no better..ranging from 123-176! Im pretty sure they should all increase after some bedding in but am a little worried that i havent seen any significant increase immediately, as surely you should see an increase to start with?

What else could cause low compression...Valve timing perhaps?

Any help advice would be appreciated!

Cheers, Mark

you should have good compression striaght away with new rings they do need to bed in but this shouldnt make alot of difference, maybe it could be the valve timimg?

we had this on a V8 the other day. it turned out that it was timed up wrong.

cheers for replies so far, head gasket is obv new on and im confident that it was prepared properly etc.

Where could i find info about valve timing? Its the fact that all compressions are completley uneven thats weird! MAybe its bore ware?!

p.s will low compression give symptoms of a misfire/poor running, or even something like a resinating feeling, or would that be connected to HT leads and dizzy? never really had a car with low comp before...
