Since my car was serviced it has returned with an annoying misfire. It is only at low revs (under 2000rpm), and the car still performs well at top end.

The problem seems to be when accelerating from a low speend in the lower gears :@

Yea I thought it could be that. The person at the garage didnt look to bright..dont think he had realised that the spark plugs/leads were so difficult to get at! :$

I paid for new ones a couple of years ago, genuine from VW, will be annoyed if its the leads again!

Exact same symptoms as mine, leads it was. tell them to be careful when changing them (if you don't do it yourself) mine were brand new leads and they knicked the new ones when replacing them.Took me a while to be convinced the problem was the leads as they were brand new, but sure enough the knicks were evident when they were removed. Problem solved. Hope yours is as simple a solution.

Regards.

[b]Just had the head gasket done, had the cooling system flushed etc, thought that the misfire was because the headgasket was blown, obviously I was mistaken! Ill check the leads first, just waiting til its dark enough to see if they arc!!

Just checked the leads! And yes they are arching! Off to buy some new ones, going to send my old ones back to the garage who broke them - I wouldnt mind but I took the car to a well known VW specialist and they broke them! Not naming nay names of course! :@
