Dilema, shrick or short intake??

Recommended Posts

Ok, so i got me shrick, which i love to bits but the group buy on the short intakes (which may or may not happen?) has intrigued me!

As i am charging the VR, what should i do? Keep the shrick or get a short intake.

Views and oppinons please guys : )

I haven't seen which short runner is the one in question however I can provide some first hand experience. Without having FI you are about to sacrifice a lot of low end torque. The schrick you currently have does nothing but increase torque. Personally, I'd stick with that unless FI is in the mix.

Yes I've been incognito for months. Been working on a bunch of track prepped porsches and S2000's of all things.

We're working on a trapezodial shaped plenum covering 6 velocity stacks. The 75mm TB sits dead center pointing down. Combine this with the equal length turbo manifold for a true equal airpath through the engine. It'll either make power or just look damn good. The schrick 248's work great in FI applications, huge midrange torque increase. I'll tune for these and then try some 268's if I need more top end kick. Yes, 268's with FI. If you have stand alone and the fuel system to support the high rpm fueling, they have been proven by a gentleman in NJ to make some serious power.

I'd deffo get the short intake Pete for when the charger goes on. You'll get good money for the Shrick which will cover the cost of the intake manifold. One thing you need to bare in mind is the throttle body mounting. I was looking at the issues with Jon (Millsy) the other day and apparentley the Schimmel ones only come with a near side (driver, left hand drive and all that) throttle body mounting.

Firstly: the Shimmel ones go straight on but when you go to fit the throttle body it fouls by the fan housing and you need to do some mods.

Secondly: Ideally you need the throttle body on the drivers side (passenger side when ordering from America!!) so all you have to do is clock the charger and run the pipe work straight into the throttle body otherwise your gonna have a nightmare with running induction piping around your engine bay, not to mention the heat soak you'll pick up. I'm not saying it can't be done but it could be a bit of a nightmare.

There are different intakes available we did see one with the throttle mounting on the other side, great for superchargers!! ;)
