Help Needed Urgently Please : (

:o I was driving home along the motorway today, and suddenly realised that i had a loss of power also loads of pure white smoke coming out the back.I slowed down and pulled over, right she wasn't firing on all 6,when i gave it some gas she smoked LOTS! There is no evidence of any contaminants in either the water or oil,she hasn't used any oil or water but she did get up to 114 oil temp!

Anyway i crawled home about 60 and she didin't drop below 104 in oil temp. I have taken all the plugs out and they seem to be coked up except no1 cylinder where the plug was melted and the tip soaked! I tryed another plug in no1 and the same happened , it came out wet but not frazzled. So i have checked the leads (y) the coilpack (y) nothing visible there? She is still not firing on all 6 and when i accelerate she spits out white smoke +o(

Anyway if anyone can help plz do asap as she is my daily driver and needed for the morning

Thanks :-( Riggs

p.s the plugs and leads sre 2 mths old

she was serviced and MOT'd recently

Oh a pic of the plug from n01 below

Just bought a compression tester and the results are as follows

no1-0psi

no2-165psi

no3-165psi

no4-170psi

no5-165psi

no6-165psi

This seems a bit strange to me (bbut she is my first v6) but i cant understand why there is no compression at all on no1 only???? As when i hsve had h/gaskets go on four cylinder engines, compression seemed low on 2 cylinders :-*

Could anyone shed some light on this plz, am i correct in thinking that there is some other problem or is this how the results should be when a vr's h/gasket goes??

Thanks

damn shame i feel gutted for you

sounds like the head gasket to me

no compression on no1 means

1 valve knackered intake or exhaust

2 rings gone

3 cylinder is cracked

4 gasket blown

there are only 4 ways for the compression to escape

is there any bubbles coming back through to the coolant header tank when she ticks over?

you can get a test done which looks for hydrocarbons in the coolant, a sure sign of a blown gasket, take a sample of the coolant to a garage, any good garage should have this test, they may do it for free.

in the end no compression on no1 = head off for a looksee
