phonecian 0
I fitted extractors and the lift in performance is nicely noticeable. The price is excessive under bonnet heat. I fabricated a heat shield to protect the hoses etc and its made a big improvement to their tolerance. On the other hand the new shield deflects heat back towards brake lines and now I'm noticing odd brake behaviour. It also deflects heat down onto the back of the block and starter (I think its down there?). I could go on making heat shields or I could wrap the pipes.I've been advised both ways. Some say wrapping is the only real answer. Some say it will wreck the extractors (excessive heat trapped in the pipes=really fast oxidation and metal fatigue). I can see the logic.Has anyone here wrapped the pipes and found the life of the pipes was shortened significantly?
