crish72 0
Had my G-max kit fitted yesterday, driving home i noticed a creaking/grinding noise at slow speeds when turning.opened the bonnet up tonight and the top strut mounts(think that's what theyre called?}are sat about 5-6mm up from where they used to be sat and the noise is them turning (metal on metal) theyre clearly visibly moving when i turn the wheel. Now, although the car drives fine i'm certain they aint supposed to sit proud like this and i'm taking it back to garage tomorrow. Can anyone shed any light on how bad this is? Or is that how they are supposed to be? - should they be greased etc?CheersChris
thegoth 5
Did you keep you original top mounts, or get new? It's a little known/mentioned fact that the top mounts have bearings in them. I didn't know until the man in GSF told me, Otherwise I would have just got the mounts rather then the mount 'kits'.TG.

crish72 0
All sorted - stupid mechanic had assembled the mounts the wrong way around - bearing upside down, metal cup in the wrong place...a complete arse in other words..Won't be getting my business again!Chris

spindat45 0
I'm glad you got it sorted Chris. I thought it was something like that. When I changed the shocks on mine I did the same thing on one side but realised before I'd done everything back up. I know what you mean about the ride. In my opinion its how the car should have felt as standard. What size rims are you rolling on and did you have your camber done along with the tracking?
crish72 0
What size rims are you rolling on and did you have your camber done along with the tracking? 17's with 205's, No rubbing at all. Got the tracking and camber done when the shocks were fitted.Well happy with the ride and looks of G-Max :-p Chris
