AndreWilk 1
Please can anyone help, I've purchased a set of RH Turbo alloy wheels 8x17, was really after 16's but no one does them, and I'm intending to drop the suspension by 30-40mm will I need to roll the arches or anything else? Also is G-mac a good option for lowering the car, it seems to be popular with most of you guys? Thanks in advance for any advice.Andre
spindat45 0
Hi. I'm almost certain you will have to roll your arches, especially if you are going to lower it. I've got 7.5x17 rims on mine and they rubbed slightly on G-Max suspension before I had them rolled. The G-Max kit is not ride or height adjustable but drops the car by around 40mm overall. The ride is a lot firmer than standard and the handling is much improved without loosing too much comfort. I find the height is also ideal for my London driving. Coilovers are a bit more expensive but you benefit from better handling and you would be able to alter height and/or dampness depending on the make. If you haven't done so already then have a good read through some of the threads about suspension on here. Ive posted a few and replied to a few about G-Max.Kevin
gav_113 0
ive got G-Max on mine wit 17's, and they rubbed a little, so i removed bout 4mm from the arch lip. it didnt cost anything, u have to bare in mind that if u get ur arches rolled, u may need to get it painted after coz the paint sometimes cracks! dubberVR6 0
That saves me having to start a new thread! Gav, did you just angle grind 4mm off all 4 arches? Is that ok on the rears? I want to chop mine, to save on paint etc. Is this a good idea anyone?????
gav_113 0
i only done my rears.i removed wheel, marked out the strip of arch to be removed with some fine line tape, then got the thinnest cutting disc i could find (bout 2mm), and then cut along the edge of the line. work the disc along and u get a nice smooth line. dont grind the edge! cut into the arch.u will cut into the sealant behind the arch which will smoke a bit!it is best to lie down below the arch to do this and u can see exactly what u r doing, wear safety glasses! after rub abit of sandpaper over the edge to remove any sharp edges. then brush primer and if u want some paint over the bare metal. also ive resealed the the inner lip with seam sealer.i done a really neat job of mine, ive done this on loads of cars before and never had any probs!
