  1. Today I managed to get quite a lot done... windows back in, rubber trims on, front end on, wiper motor and arms, door seals etc etc.... All I have left to do is flat and polish the roof (I've just flattened it down tonight) so it's ready to re polish back up maybe tommorow or Thursday. It's absolutely filthy inside and out to be honest so next on my list is to get it cleaned down to a degree that I can still use it.. Textured black paint is ready to be picked up so I can get the tops of the bumpers, arches, skirts and door mouldings all re painted with a fresh coat of black. Bumpers I will j

  2. Today was productive, got started around 10am and started flatting down the fresh paintwork for a good buff up with the machine polisher.. really happy with the end result being that I done the whole respray in a garage without the conditions of a spray booth.. I used 2000 wet and dry with plenty water and soapy detergent so stop it from sticking and dragging across the panels. After a good flat down I got out the polisher and started with the compound (g3).. keeping it cold so I didn't burn it but went over each panel until there was no visible scratches left from flattening. All I need to do

  3. Whats your goal for bhp? Pete is probably you best bet as I think his carrado is the highest na vr on the forum. But big money to do it. But here is what ive picked up from here and know from older projects. First off the 6 branch on a vr6 has very limited gains as the ports are un equal aparently there is only one company thats actully managed a exhaust manifold with gains. Never looked into which company because its so pricey. But heat is an enemy so heat wrap it up to lower you engine bay temps! Mk4 metal head gasket is a cheep way to higher the compresion of the engine more compresion help

    vr6 knock

VR6 AAA OBD1 around 50 odd miles on the engine yesterday i was on my way to a car show in my golf which ive just carried out a full rebuild to the engine. i drove it 30 miles before setting off and it was working fine. i set of as normal and just stuck to 60, 9 miles down the road the oil light started flashing so i pulled over and waited 10 minutes for the oil to cool down/ for oil to return to the sump. i checked it and it was only a couple markings down on the dipstick so i topped it up till it was full. got back in and set off again and within 1 mile it was back on, i accelerated a l

Sounds good bennyk. We'll have to look into that, perhaps try the one where you rolled before and tag the VXROC onto our session this time! Would be good to see the difference our latest mods make. I reckon my hella quads will give me another 5hp possibly 6 if I take your pukka headlight mask Ben. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  6. Yeah as above, the later heads had some slight improvements for oil flow for chains but doesn't really offer any improvements but fully inter changeable, I've just had a new head built for my new block and have had the cover skimmed to match. As long as to swap cam sprockets etc.. Shouldn't matter if single or double top chain Club Chairman

  7. Hi vr brothers.... I have been offered a set of blaupunkt parcel shelf supports with the built in speakers...I have a mark 3 golf vr6 and was wondering if the connections or plug for the speakers is already present on my car? Possibly tucked away anywhere? As this was a factory optional extra I know sometimes manufactures run the loom to the location in the event of it possibly being required? We're Vw so thoughtful in this case? In short are these plug and play or will I have to run my own wiring to them? Kind regards and thanks in advance. Zac

    Max rebore size

I was wondering whether that was a bit much. Ive got a Garrett GTX 3582r turbo which im going to fit to the engine so any extra displacement will help reduce the lag. It has the twin scroll evo hotside so will make a mani to suit to help as well. So whats the maximum do you think it can be bored out to?
