Hi all, Iv been a member for a while but have never really posted anything, so thought I would introduce myself and my car. Im Jake and I drive a 1989 tornado red mk2 golf vr6. Iv owned the car for 2 years now and absolutely love it, but as the new year is coming, so are a few changes, so all of your advice and opinions would be much appreciated. The cars heart is a 2.8 vr6, standard engine with stainless exhaust, engine bay is in need of some attention as it is untidy, so the plans for the new year is to take the engine out and get the bay painted as well as cleaning and touching up2 points

The previous owner had done everything the same apart from the cams, short air intake and the oil cooler. I'm going to replace the crank sensor and the coil pack and see if it makes any difference. If not then I will definitely consider getting it down to vince.2 points -
You need to completely Cover it with copper spray! As if you were spray painting it completely! This will assure a solid seal. Allow it to dry a bit to a tacky feel, then install and torque down brother! [emoji108]2 points

Hi Andy, The answers to your questions are..... Yes you can use the R32 sump but you will need to change the oil pump. The R32 is exactly the same but with a shorter pick up. It's not a cheap project to do the swap but I believe TPS are the cheapest for the parts. I have Audi TT wheels on mine which are for sale shortly. As standard they will rub on the back when lowered but if you prepared to have your arches rolled and run a little camber they will clear the arches. If you go to the Engine Tuning section there's a write up there on the R32 sump conversion. Hope this helps.1 point

So after fitting my be front brakes I realised 15's weren't going to clear at all so swapped the gottis for some 16" schmidts which I have now split down. Fronts were 8's and rears are 8.5's so rebuilding the 8.5's and buying 3.5" lips for the 8's. Got some gold spike bolts and flat caps coming for them too. And after a good polish up with meguiars all metal polish:1 point -

I personally would do some research on this first because this is quite a big transplant especially if it's a 24v you planning on dropping in. Your going to need quite a lot of stock parts so if your friend has the full car I'd tell him you want it to strip it of parts whilst your doing the transplant. Engine, gearbox, ecu, loom, manifold will help to start with. Then fuel pump. Also an upgrade on brakes. The list is endless. Do some serious research first pal.1 point

My way of thinking here is that even though your turbo came with this ecu it still may of not been running the same set up u have built. Ie..... Compression, boost, cams etc etc. wouldn't it have been set up for the engines requirements that it came from? I think I'd just get it down to Vince and let him have a play.1 point -

When installing the spacer plate, like i have done on a billion of them its important to use the copper spray. Here is a trick that not too many people know about. The best way to install a spacer plate is using the MK4 VR6 head gasket. This gasket as you know is very much different from the MK3 one, and increases compression on MK3s because its thinner. But here is the sweet part. The MK4 head gasket is the only one you can split into 2. Cut the rivets and split into 2. Copper spray both, including the plate. Place one gasket on bottom and other on top of plate and torque down while copper sp1 point
