Hi all, Iv been a member for a while but have never really posted anything, so thought I would introduce myself and my car. Im Jake and I drive a 1989 tornado red mk2 golf vr6. Iv owned the car for 2 years now and absolutely love it, but as the new year is coming, so are a few changes, so all of your advice and opinions would be much appreciated. The cars heart is a 2.8 vr6, standard engine with stainless exhaust, engine bay is in need of some attention as it is untidy, so the plans for the new year is to take the engine out and get the bay painted as well as cleaning and touching up1 point

Vw Vento The saga continues
Bealieboy reacted to Antihero1981 for a topic
well , the last few weeks the vento went from driving spot on to not driving she would not crank , so I changed the ignition switch and that seemed to sort it for week or 2 , now I cant get her to fire up she cranks but does not do anything today I checked the following 1.fuel relay - getting power 2.fuel pump getting power circuit seems to be fine and when you crank it you can hear the fuel pump kick in so now I am thinking it could either be 1. spark plugs 2.ignition leads 3.crank senor 4.coil pack 5,injectors hooked up a code reader and didn't get any codes , only b021d which1 point -

I had it running without a MAF. As when it came to first starting it after the rebuild it would not start and as soon as I unplugged the MAF it started so presume the MAF I was given with the turbo is faulty. I've just taken a few parts off my other vr got the crank sensor, coil pack and the MAF. Gonna give them a try now.1 point

If your code reader can do live data, when you crank the engine with it connected it will read 0rpm if it's the crank sensor Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

Hi Andy, The answers to your questions are..... Yes you can use the R32 sump but you will need to change the oil pump. The R32 is exactly the same but with a shorter pick up. It's not a cheap project to do the swap but I believe TPS are the cheapest for the parts. I have Audi TT wheels on mine which are for sale shortly. As standard they will rub on the back when lowered but if you prepared to have your arches rolled and run a little camber they will clear the arches. If you go to the Engine Tuning section there's a write up there on the R32 sump conversion. Hope this helps.1 point

The engine bay looks a bit better now then in this old photo, the only thing I have left to do to this is to fit the new Porsche breaks but that will be done by the end of the month.
