  3. So, on the run up to the local SWDubs Mega meet on Sunday 25th, I have started to give the VR a good clean! I started with a wash this afternoon, tomorrow I will polish up a few bits and give the bodywork a good going over with the claybar, and then Friday I will give the interior a good clean and the bodywork a coat of wax, Saturday I will give it another wax, treat the trim and give it another wash, and then Sunday morning I will give the bodywork a quick going over with the detailing spay

Bealieboy, cabbs nearly blew my tent over and it was probably a mile away from the stand lol. Hopefully this year I'll have a bit more room to take the stand for the club banner and we'll set the club stand up a bit better.

Sound cheers Plan are get it on the road first and through the mot. Got coilovers off my old car to go on. Then looking at some rims probably 17" Then going to make it mint on the out side. I'm thinking of going to justdubsuk this year and vw fest just on the Sunday. Once I have the car I had planned on doing a build thread. And this site has been really help with the info on the vr6. And the previous owner said to get a membership paid for the extra stuff. So I will probably do so at some point.

Welcome along to the club mate. We've got a few shows up north this year that I'll be getting on with organising hopefully in the next few weeks. What plans do you have for your vr? Also get a build thread going too mate. If you need any advice mate just ask [emoji41]

  13. I would just use sealer on it but that's my preference. I have used the sealant on hundreds of sumps at work and never had a leak yet.

    Low mileage Golf Vr6

Wouldn't take me long, I'd feel guilty though. The car should be preserved and well looked after. Give it 50 years and see how much it will be with less than 4k miles on the clock. EDIT: If you remember that Vr6 I showed you, I'm not getting it now. After looking around, I figured that a 3 door model would be nicer. Unfortunately a 3 door VR6 Golf is hard to find in decent condition.

    1997 VW Golf VR6 mk3

So today's exploits went as follows.... First point of call, exhaust manifold... Now I wrapped it in heat wrap, I'll never do it again, pain in the backside, also had to split a weld so it would fit: New silicone hoses going on: Coilpack and leads back on: Other bits and bobs added: The one away special "coffee cup" mod: Sachs clutch going in: Gearbox on: Theeeeeeen, engine in place: Then about 2-3hrs of faffing about (because Matt and I were a bit eager to get it started), it finally started (no exhaust connected): https://vimeo.com/117112536 Then we connected pretty much everything
