Pcv valve can be removed but it's advised to run your breather pipe to a catch can, or straight out to atmosphere with a piece of long pipe down to the chassis rail. That mesh in the pcv valve is intended as a flame trap to stop any unwanted hot oil firing in the inlet tract. Personally I don't really think such a problem is too likely but that's what it's for. It also does a good job of stopping too much oil splatter into the inlet. Mines long gone and at present I've got a piece of samco carrying the crankcase fumes down to the road but a catch tank or fresh clean pcv is by far the better4 points

Mains power mate , she gets through battery's too quick !!2 points -
It's a 6 speed manual mate, used to be a company car so it's had thousands of pounds spent on servicing from audi and specialist garages. A recent lightweight clutch and flywheel, a few other bits then it's had a map to tweak it a little, it's a very snappy motor.. just need to make it sound a bit better now. Gonna modify the cats and maybe delete a centre box to give it some grunt... I would like to get another mk2 as a project but that will be next year now if anything unless a bargain pops up... but again I think it would need a r32 or vr6 lump2 points

Sounds like it could be way over fueling? What do the plugs look like? Black sooty? Quick thing to try if not already done disconnect the maf and see if it improves... Faulty lambdas can cause fueling probs too.. Try disconnecting also it turn with the maf..I hate Kseal its horrible stuff. I'd be flushing that crap out once i got it running right... Keep us updated mate.1 point -

What Is This For?

And for this mod, you'll require a squeezy washing up bottle, some double sided sticky tape and some toilet roll holders! Useful info big j!1 point -
They're just the pics I took yesterday, I've got the door cards rear quarters and rear seats too. Looking for around £350 for the full set1 point

Catch cans are effectively a means of venting to atmosphere, depending how they're piped up. It just means the oil spit that passes through the breathers is collected instead of making a mess anywhere. Just need to empty them out on service. Some people run a pipe from the rocker cover to a catch tank, then just stick one of those little mini k&n filters on the outlet, others run the outlet back to the inlet tract. The theory being, that the oil is collected in the tank, and only vapor is passed back to the throttle body. Venting to atmosphere does ensure the inlet tract stays dry and oil1 point

No problems, it's only there to recirculate crank case pressure or blowby as the yanks call it. It's just what down draft the piston rings cause and any compression passing rings in a poor engine. You may find you get oily wishbone because there will always be certain amounts of oil "spit" from the breathers. Hence the oil in the ops inlet tract.1 point

The central locking system on a golf is vacuum operated, I'm sure if a rado is the same but make sure there isn't any vacuum pipes disconnected withing The rear quarter panel1 point -
More pushing on with this, who needs lunch breaks and stuff anyway! Short shift is in; Apart from the extended part I'm not sure what else has been done to it, but it feels a hell of a lot better though! Manifold out; And new one in; Then got bored of laying underneath it and over the engine bay so started on the brake's. Old; New[emoji4]! Though a bit of trimming on the caliper was needed to clear the tyre pressure sensors on the back of my wintercults[emoji15]!1 point

Looking good mate , you have lost loads of weight !! Yes bit random I'm bored lol1 point -
Bent rods are not really anything to do with boost pressure or flow, it's about the tune mainly. If you have spot on flame propagation, timing and fuelling etc on a 2bar blueprinted engine, there will be a lot less shearing and twisting forces in play during the cycle than a 1 bar set-up with some knocking due to an incorrect burn cycle! It's why a set of ARP rod bolts and a good tune can reach high power goals - 700hp+. Piston rings go but again, not really to do with power or boost. If someone drives the engine cold a lot, it could wear the bore out of the cylinder more than someone that m1 point

Hi and welcome to the club. I hope your problems are sorted soon.1 point -
From here I got the interior in and arches/bumpers/lights and original grill back on. And got it to this... I stumbled upon a few extra parts that I didn't seem to need (must have been bought as spares).. Next came it's MOT to see what it was really like and what type of depth I was getting myself Into.. fearing the worst I booked it up for the next week and drove it there... On the way, disaster.. It overheated.. steam from the bonnet, temp through the roof (I stopped as soon as it was safe) switched off and let it cool down.. eventually got it to the MOT test station and it began... Guess w1 point
