Lumpy idle on the nothelle

I wouldn't be too alarmed about the water in exhaust tips.. Could just be condensation in the exhaust.. Is it using coolant?? Glad to hear u making progress.2 points -
Lumpy idle on the nothelle

Update: Car has thrown maf, low voltage code and abs codes only. I changed the maf from the green goddess to the nothelle and that code has gone. It did improve the running but was still a bit lumpy. I cleaned the old maf and refitted it and the car although still a bit lumpy is an improvement from earlier in the week. I also cleaned the TB whilst I was at it. I know the car has a poor earth so I'll need to get that sorted sooner than later and I also noticed that there's plenty of water laying in the exhaust tips. Next job is a sniff test as I suspect head gask2 points -
More pushing on with this, who needs lunch breaks and stuff anyway! Short shift is in; Apart from the extended part I'm not sure what else has been done to it, but it feels a hell of a lot better though! Manifold out; And new one in; Then got bored of laying underneath it and over the engine bay so started on the brake's. Old; New[emoji4]! Though a bit of trimming on the caliper was needed to clear the tyre pressure sensors on the back of my wintercults[emoji15]!2 points

looks like its the same questions again . so to save them having to be asked i thought id put this brief email together that should answer most of your questions. As you may or may not know , there are different ways to turbo a vr6 . ill list the main parts, its for you to decide were you purchase them and who fits them. remember its normally the fitment that screws up the running once its all together. ill ammend it when i have time ( and correct my spelling mistakes ) people can add to it if they wish any comments made that drag any company down will be removed . turbo manifold - spa ,1 point

93 Dusty Mauve VR6 rebuild
D11PS reacted to Rodney1980 for a topic
Hello I'm Dean new member last week from Peterborough, just taken possession of my fathers golf Vr which is in a few bits! It's a 93 car on an L plate. 5 door auto with only 57k on the clock. Spent most of its life in Scotland so the rot had set in on the sills arches springs etc!! I'll be looking to keep it factory with a few upgrades leather colour concept interior panels poss air con refurb the wheels. Complete service and mot is due so over the next few weeks I'll be doing bits n pieces and hopefully meeting some of you all at some events!1 point -
So a bit of history to start with. I bought a 1997 Mk3 Golf GTi 16V back in August 2004. Over the years of owning the car it slowly developed in to more of a fun / track car. The final evolution for that bodyshell was on the road late 2008. I had done a few track days in the car by this stage and when the tax ran out the end of October, I garaged the car for a winter rebuild. This was to include fitting a full cage (it ran with only the rear section at that stage) and the fibreglass panels Mike and I had commissioned. I also had a rebuilt gearbox (3.6 FD & Quaife LSD) a1 point

Lumpy idle on the nothelle

Looks great m8, can't wait to see this at a meet or show.. Never seen a nothelle vr. I'm sure many others haven't either. Will be something special when you have finished with it.1 point -
Ben is meticulous hence I'd like him to do the bodywork at least. I'll probably get the establishment he works at to do some spanner work on it too. I look forward to seeing the nothelle back to its former glory and I think many of us will. It's a bit of a unicorn car that one1 point

I was reading his build thread the other day defiantly knows what he's doing. So he'll be busy then!!![emoji23][emoji23]1 point

I wanted to get the cage main hoop set back as far as possible as I have an extended steering column to go on further down the line. We have spent a fair bit of time mocking up the position of the cage feet towers. That has all been set now and my father picked up some suitable plate, so fabrication should be starting shortly. Also, some parts have arrived. CAE Ultra Shifter Neuspeed adjustable rear ARB kit, I will be running this with the Eibach front ARB which was previously fitted. Avo monotube coilover kit with Ground Control camber/castor adjustable top mounts I1 point

Yes, I will be starting a build thread. Actually Bennyk may as well start the build thread as he'll be doing the bodywork. [emoji2]1 point

The car won't be on the rd any time soon jack so it's a job to say if it's using coolant as such. I'll keep monitoring it whilst I'm messing with it. Fingers crossed and all that! Here's a couple more pics for interest. [emoji41]1 point

Welcome to the club. Highline's only came in mulberry and black so it's not a proper one. You could still spec your vr6 with leather though so it's as good as a highline, just without a few other bits of extra trim. 3 or 5 door? Got any pics to share?1 point

Finally got a pair a couple of weeks ago. Not a bad fit got them lined up nice just had to take the hammer to the bit of metal at the back of the wing. As the door opened it would catch. For £40 each cant complain[emoji2]1 point

Cheers for the heads up lads , I'm after a set that are fully adjustable , with a decent ride quality , the wife uses the car to drive locally , and will be attending a good few meets this year , so reccomendations are all helpful , it rides harsh enough so a set with rebound dampening would be good1 point -
I bought a set of the pro-sport ones (about £180) for the VR when I first got it and they were seriously harsh! They drove me insane in about a week!1 point

Rear quarter panel exhuast
redvr6_girl reacted to dj-madman for a topic
i also remember that you couldnt have the tailpipes protruding past the extremity of the bumper. i dont know if this has changed but i have seen plenty of cars that have pipes coming up from the bbox, past the bumper and stopping near the tailgate (hot rod style) never know things may have changed for the better lol1 point -
