  1. Started to make a metal gearbox relay, to replace the crap standard platic one. It also part of short shift, as the relay pin has been droped by about 14-15mm. Reducing side to side movement in the gear stick. I'm going to be making a front and back short shift soon. The relay needed to be made on a CNC or lathe. I don't have either of these, But I so have a pillar drill. Haha. So I could imitate a lathe but on a vertical axis. Only on small items. This would be good enough to make what I wanted. Had some 12mm metal bar that was threaded inside, already in the garage. Used this to make

    Engine Rebuild Parts

I think it was about 1-2 weeks, not entirely sure to be honest! I personally would change them just for piece of mind and since you intend putting cams in, you might as well change them. Also depends on what cams you choose also, 268s im pretty sure you would have to upgrade the springs. My guides had seen better days to be honest, stems where fine though.

  5. It's...........ALIVE!! Filled it up with coolant at approx a 40-50% mix and installed my NGK BKR7E spark plugs gapped at .026". I attached the stock intake pipe with the original MAF housing removed and taped on my 4" MAF housing, cranked over to build up some oil pressure and it fired into life. Idle was rough and after a minute or two of running, it threw a code of random/intermittent misfire and misfire on cylinder 4, I was hoping it wasn't the injector wiring since that means I would have had to take the intake manifold off again. I swapped coil pack 4 and 2, problem was still there

    Engine Rebuild Parts

I just finished up building my top end, I got my parts from https://vr6parts.com/ (schimmel performace) over in the states. They got pretty much everything you need to rebuild a VR I got the following from then: titanium springs retainers stem seals high flow water pump ARP flywheel studs SP 263 cams fairly reasonable prices but you do have to pay customs tax which is a bit. I got genuine OE lifters off ebay though. Headgasket I opted for the MK4 V6 triple metal layer one

  9. And moving up swiftly to stage 2! Boost! Picked up a Vortech V1 cheap as chips with dual idler setup. Was missing a few bits from the kit such as idler pulley spacers, longer alternator bolts and charger mount spacer. I have knowledge, helpful friends and contacts so no problem! A friend in the USA provided the info I need and a helpful member with a lathe in the UK made up alternator spacers (result)! I removed the case from the charger which is currently down at the polishers getting polished, can't wait see it ! Just need to nip to the thread shop pick up 115mm alternator bolts and that'

  14. Little bit of an update for this thread, not got much done to it recently as I've been collecting parts for the engine rebuild.....which even though I'm not going mad with uprated parts is costing a small fortune! Had the spare head stripped, skimmed and rebuilt with new lifters, guides etc, still needs a good clean; Then some arp bits turned up; Also ordered new chains and bearings from oemandmore, Adrian there was very helpful I must say. So these should turn up in the week so I can start putting it all together. Managed to get some highline door cards for pretty much nothing so borrowed th

  15. Its a new old stock there's been a few on eBay recently for about £460 then spotted this the other day for £300 plus postage whist looking for other rebuild bits and thought it'd cost about the same as having one of my other bottom ends cleaned/honed/bored or whatever as it would to buy this plus I won't have to clean or paint it[emoji6] think there's a date on it that says it was made in 2003.

  16. I've finally found one of these!!! It only took 6 months odd! Thanks to Calico for the pointer bought an odd complete light with a smashed lens for £33 inc postage, was a bit beaten up and has a small crack, but polished up well. Also got the brand new offside one a while back so fitted that. So popped the grill off and got the black copy covers off (which I might colour code) and popped the oe hella ones on,much better! Like new! Also won this on the bay at a bargain price recently so jacked the engine up and got it on,can feel the improvement with just the one so will be looking out for the

  17. Top man for sorting my seat out Ben, thanks very much for doing that. Your car is very nice, the pics on here are great but it's even better in the flesh, the paint finish is superb..... Yeah, I thought there was a drought on in stortford today, I had to stop at a garage on the way home for a drink, I was parched! Thanks again for today. I'll let you know when I've sort that paint out for you. Sent from my Vr6 using Tapatalk

  19. Well got the car sort of finished and drivable today still a few little niggles to sort and went with the miltek oval exhaust as the eisenmann required to much bodgery to fit with the us rear bumper and I couldn't be arsed! Heres the proof! Loving the difference the schrick makes! I now realise why people payed £2500 new for them! Will get some pics tomorrow of it after I've spent all day cleaning it inside and out, Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  21. Another little update, got a few more little bits done over the last few days including using lots of this basically anywhere I can get it including doors, boot, chassis legs, sills, rear quarters ; Been collecting a few new bits over the last couple of months including these Also got 4 new bumper guides, moulding clips, aerial base, and loads of other bits n bobs. As you can probably guess I wanted to put the side skirts back on so started by re double siding the support strips and getting them stuck back on; Then all back on with the new strips and cleaned skirts that had about a 10 kilos of

  22. Quick update of the prepping progress this week. First of all I decided to roll the front arches only slightly so that hopefully the wheels won't rub lock and if it does it won't rip chunks out of my nice new continentals! Or ruin the wing, but I wanted to keep the splash guards so I just rolled the top of the arch over a bit and the splash guards should still sit behind the lip, sorry about the crap photos! Hope you can make it out before; After; Finally got a longer bolt for the front engine mount, good old eBay! Then started blocking all of the flat areas with 240 grit, loving spending tea
