vr6 caddy build

Ok so I went with the wide track mostly cause I had all the bits I I like the wide track, which was a good thing because it meant I had the 288 up front fitted some cheap coilovers upfront till I can save for some proper ones. so after that I started to bolt up the front end and started looking like a van again. it's abit tight to the front panel but there's loads of room at the back which is nice to no as I plan to turbo at a later date for now i got this 6 branch and made the side exit. also got told the standard van front mount wasn't upto the job so got a poly flex one woks great so after3 points -

Hi guys decided to start a build thread on my caddy at the moment its ready for mot but id thought id show you guys how It looked when i got it.The plan was to buy a cheap mk3 golf and put a 12v vr6 lump in it but then the caddy came up for sale for cheep I paid £300 notes for it and it came with a vr6 engine and box.oh yeah and half stripped the lad had crashed hisbvan an used mine as a spares van. First up was a test fit . After that pulled the mot or back out and cleaned up the bay. Timing chain and guides were next. Got the engine back together. Ready to go in. She's in. Got t2 points -
Hello guys I've now owned this car twice but this time I'm actually using it! Always been a fan of these they make such an awesome noise! Basically the story is that it used to belong to my cousin he then had major engine failure. So brought it cheap off of him to sell on, i then put another engine in and sold it to my brother. He then bought another car and this has been parked up for a year so i set about putting it back on the road! Got it running drove it to the mot and one of the chain guides broke up and the timing jumped out and the pistons made love to the valves!! Oops! So put anothe2 points

Valve lifter noise

if the lifters are sticking slightly it will clean whatever gunk is causing the problem. could just be a case of worn lifters though... simple enough to replace though and pretty cheap too2 points -

I would not recommend oil additives as they have a tendency to create a froth of air bubbles ones circulated through the engine and can ultimately increase friction. a trick that I personally have never used but have read of others having success is draining 1 quart of your engine oil and adding 1 quart of automatic transmission fluid to replace said engine oil. you don't drive it with the ATF in the crank case. allow to idle for 20-30 minutes and listen for your lifters quiet down. drain oil pan and refill with a quality 5w-40 or 0w-40 synthetic.2 points -
Thought I'd put this Group Buy together for you. Lot's of knock-off's about on the market but these are genuine items, direct from SPA Turbo themselves, can be big discount's if I buy ten at least from them or a sizeable order value, so see if any of you lot are interested on any VAG engines. List includes: 1.8/2.0 8V 1.8/2.0 16V 1.8 20V VR6 12V VR6 24V 1.9 TDI 2.5 20V 2.0 20V 2.5 TDI aircooled Here's how import taxes work; Price of unit, plus postage then VAT and import duty - usually 5-6% to add, then it's either pick up from Manchester or postage to you. So - £100 unit price, sa1 point

His head is off so cant do compression or leakdown1 point

Thanks yeah looks like its fine. The web says for low torque accessories or where the belt wraps the pulley well, single sided is good enough.1 point

24v non a/c serpentine belt query
pappers reacted to reynolds9000 for a topic
I have deleted a/c on my 12v and am using a one sided ribbed belt. I will go double check but I'm almost positive my power steering pump pulley doesn't even have groves and the belt stays perfectly centered1 point -
Rotrex supercharger compression question

As above but depends on how good your charge cooling is like How big/efficient your intercooler/charge cooler is What fuel you use How good it's mapped Water meth injection The cams will iirc lower the dynamic compression too Have you done a compression test or a leak down test?1 point -
Awesome. Don't see many of these conversions around [emoji23][emoji106]1 point
