    Rolling Road Day

Finally! a date has been decided for a rolling road day! Once again this is at stealth in the middle of the country, also for their extensive knowledge about vr's. 22nd of May 2016. minimum of 20 cars, and enough rough for 30ish in one day. Please ensure your not very low if you wish to have a go as you wont be able to run on the rollers. Not everyone will be running and we will be there all day so come down for a chat Its £25 per run which includes 3 pulls and a printout graph. Starts at 9AM and goes on till around 3:30/4. Any questions just ask

Don't see a thread mentioning this anywhere, so just wanted to say a huge well done to all who were involved in the transition ! It really is a huge improvement over the last one I think. So much more intuitive and easy to use. I am guessing much, if not all was done by Pete ? Have a well deserved beer ;-)

  4. Hi everyone! I've been trying to source previous owners for the mk3 Golf vr6 that I bought towards the end of last year. I know that the owner who took the most care of the car was the owner before the guy I bought it from was a member on here as he put the VR6OC stickers in the back windows of the car. The car was written off as stolen and then bought from auction so hopefully finding the owner that had it before will help me find out more about its history etc. If you recognise the Reg or know the old owner and could put me in contact that would be awesome! Cheers!

Think I'm going to try a copper colour. I don't want them to really stand out like red or something would.

Looks much better on those wheels buddy. Front with the 312 brakes look spot on, maybe paint the calipers to finish it off nicely.

Did a small reinforcement on a spare sump I had, only over section near the drain plug, that commonly scrapes on these. Put a few holes in the plate, to help release water and moister. As it not full seemed along the edges. Then painted it in some of the special paint I had left over from the black VR's lower arms, subframe, crossmember, etc. (The paints meant for oil rigs that get built in the sea) Ready to go on spare engine before it gets fitted. Set of cheap silicone hoses. Fitted the TT pedals, Side windows and sunro

    What's going on?

This would be the second biggest update I've done since starting the club back in the day. This is a total re-write using all the latest cutting edge technologies and as cutting edge as gravitational waves Along with the forum the club membership system has been totally upgraded as well as our store! Glad you are all enjoying the new website, hopefully we can breath some new life into this old girl and take away some of the thunder from facebook and social networks!

    What's going on?

It is looking much cleaner, think that's the first time you've changed it since before I originally joined up in 2008 isn't it? Also, not sure if it was entirely the forum, broke laptop screen and could have been pressing something I shouldn't have for all I know, just a few things looking strange and duplicated answers etc. Are the date's showing up in US on these new ones, apparently I was born in Feb and ky_uk posting that last post in 3 months time is impressive! Hey, you never know though..... http://www.sciencemag.org/news/2016/02/gravitational-waves-einstein-s-ripple

I didn't trim anything, you just have to bend the accelerator cover to the right shape. But it's not hard, I did it with just my two hands, it's only thin alloy and rubber. Fiddely to fit, but nothing needs trimming. Brake pedal is hardest with the middle rubber that goes through hole. In total took me about 10-15mins to fit. So hardly any time at all. I have them on both my VR's.

I've got a sunroof deflector sitting in the shed waiting for the right time to put it on! Always thought they were cool since my Grandad had one on a Merc estate a very long time ago! Found mine on eBay Dom[emoji1360]

  18. Sorry for the late reply. I haven't been on here in a while. Got a bit disheartened after that day. The car is back now. I collected it the second week of January. Vince has turned it into a monster. Its pushing 355hp!! It was mapped without the methanol though as my kit stopped working for some reason. I've got a few more bits to do and then will probably take it back for another tune up. I need a bigger intercooler, relocate my air filter in to the wheel arch as the MAF is to close to the turbo and I have no more room to move it away further unless I move the air filter into the wh

As I mentioned before I have a spare engine in my garage, but really it's destiny is for the black VR as it a very good condition 74k engine, I want to rebuild for the black one. So..... I started to repair the engine already in this one. Will be giving the engine a flush after I finished doing all the work, so bought it ready. First thing was To take the rocker cover off and look at the tappets. One of them was very noisy, loose and could get a feeler gauge at 0.05 under it. So I decided replaced all six on the one cam shaft. Timing checked, cam's checked, cam locked with 5mm alloy plat

Then one day whilst browsing on Facebook this was up for sale Vortech V1. I had been thinking about it for a while, it was either that or air ride. Took the drive unto collect and bearings seemed fine so I handed over the cash and came home. started ordering parts and test fitted it in the bay. Few photos of it being fitted This is pretty much up to date. The (almost)in the title is due to a few running problems. have been speaking a lot to Pete who has been very very helpful and am trying to sort out why it wouldn't idle. I moved my MAF further away. Latest is that it will idle

  21. I was sitting in may car in a car park and a guy in a new C class Mercedes pulls up next to me. He says he is the regional sales manager for Mercedes. Instantly, I'm thinking, why are you driving a C180, the regional sales manager would be driving an E or S class, not a bottom of the range C class. He says, when Mercedes sell a new car to someone they give them an expensive designer watch and he has not given them to the customers and now has a boot full of expensive designer watches that he wants to sell cheap to make himself a few extra quid. Now I'm thinking that the regional sales manage

  22. Bill Schimmel does 4" MAF housings, and indeed I have a spare one. I'll give it to Vince to experiment with on some customers cars. It's OBD2 only though. OBD1 MAFs need custom housings made up and takes a bit of chopping up of the MAF to remove the sensor. OBD2 sensors just unscrew. 4" MAFs should give up to 17psi support, but the MAF tables need remapping to suit. You guys speak like the MAF is the all seeing power and the cure to all your problems. I'm afraid it isn't. What sensors do you think the ECU falls back on when the MAF fails, which is frequently on forced induced engines?
