Heater matrix replacement
VR6Pete reacted to olivermorganclarke for a topic
Thanks man for the advice on the foam! I will look into them. i was just going to buy the heater matrix off of euro parts. only £15-£25 what type of foam did you put back on the flaps? thanks1 point -
I just did this on my Corrado. I'm told it can be done without removing the dash but I took the dash out to inspect everything. the foam on the directional flaps in your heater box will be more like dust now. I removed the lot and covered each flap with self adhesive felt from British felt website. Great service from British felt. valeo matrix were oem if you can find one.1 point

93 Corrado vr6 turbo odb1 engine management
VR6Pete reacted to Redcorradovrt for a topic
I like the sound of them but not willing to start down that route if I can't get a simple email back... What if there are teething problems!! Really need to get a route sorted it's going to stall me soon - should be ready for wiring very soon!!1 point -
Had some time today to sort the MAF wiring out. Not the best of starts as the soldering iron packed up do had borrow one off neighbour. Anyway, soldered, heat wrapped and and cloth taped up the loom ready for charger installation. Another job off the list. Next up is to measure my belt length, but like my tools my ball of string has gone missing too so couldn't do that today. Still need fit fuel pump next weekend....1 point

Do a bit of research for your application too.... these fallacies you hear about "cast pistons rattle less than forged" is nonsense so make sure you choose wisely. Many aftermarket one's will be 4032 alloy but some will be 2618 which give more rattle due to thermal expansion/physical properties differences, in fact I've read some reports that show although 4032 is somewhat less tough and has less overall thermal resilience it handle's the sustained thermal stresses akin to engine cycle loads better than 2618. I would prefer any bore n hones to be well versed in these things in terms of s1 point

I've emailed lugronic to ask about there plug and play system... No reply! Hear there not the best customer service. Was thinking maybe emerald ... Anyone had any experience with these? Also will need a base map installed as its a brand spanking new engine!1 point -
Could be but check for air leaks there's one that runs round the back that's give lambda faults as its running lean, the heater part of the lambda heats it to close the loop on the ecu quicker to get the best from the engine quicker1 point

Mk3 golf short shifter diy
VR6Pete reacted to carterleeds for a topic
Tbh mate I think the vr's lack In 3 places suspension exhaust and gearstick. Ive done the other 2 on my previous 4 but never the short shifter which was always lacking. The throw lenght is immense compared to my s3 8p and leon 1.8t and even my little brothers Ibiza 1.2 has a shorter oem shift, but I guess it's the luxary side of things the car was built for in the first place. But you do notice it coming from other cars, but like you said I will probably get used to it because it feels like the others now, especially the shortening of the shaft.1 point -
Dunno what happened in the above post. Wheels are now on and I really like them. I know they need some tyre black haha 20160220_122333 by Dominic Joy, on Flickr 20160220_122348 by Dominic Joy, on Flickr1 point

I certainly did. I will get pictures up shortly. Had a right nightmare with it. The guy who was selling it was a right moron. Day before I picked it up it had an 'mot' which I passed no problem. On way We heard a weird nose coming from the back end. We proceeded. Anyway my friend had a look over it to sort out the rear bearing only to find that the only thinking keeping the Hub attached to the rear was the split pin. Suspension was wrangling it's bag off. Was horrendous. Of course the guy denied all knowledge etc etc anyway it's sorted now. New hubs and pads all1 point

The trans is unfortunately still the O2A. It's being built with ARP bolts, cryo-treated gears, and a Wavetrac diff, so that should help. Unfortunately the O2M just wasn't an option at this point in time. Sounds like the .82 is the way to go with these. It's going to be a street car, but just a toy. Not a daily driven car at all. It probably won't see 1000 miles in a year honestly.1 point

Yeh I know mate I mentioned that at the start, sorry if it wasn't clear. So I've shortened the shaft on the short shifter from @besters and there's a lot less throw than original shaft lenght1 point -
