  2. Cheers for the welcome. I like to think I'm fairly competent with the mechanical work, I rebuilt my Mk1 engine some years ago but it still hasn't been put back in the car (or ran) so how good the job was is unknown I need to find a good body shop locally and getting the work priced up but its proving harder since my local shop packed up and moved to Devon! watch this space...

  6. Hi and welcome to the club mate. Good luck with your work your going to carry out. To be fair there not a hard car to work on mechanically. I think id probably just source the parts required and have a go at fitting them yourself. Bodywork id leave to the big boys as this will determine the future looks. There's lots of members on here to help mate so should you get stuck, just find the correct section and post up a thread. You'll find the Vr will use up all your spare cash as there a never ending money pit but its worth it for the smiles it will bring when you get it back to its fo

  7. CALICO, is it an ARL? Which came with 150hp and a 6-speed? My friend has an AGR 1.9 TDI tuned up to ~200hp. I also know a couple of people with tuned 1.9 / 2.5 / 3.0 TDIs via a group. These engines are awesome, but yeah, you can easily spend a couple grands on the next stage

    Compond Charged VR6

No worries sunshine, although I think you're underestimating the task at hand though! Who's done it before with these, any links? First and foremost, Megasquirt or any aftermarket system for that matter has absolutely no control whatsoever over an electro-magnetic clutch system and would somewhat need to be implemented into the functional logic of how the systems operate, with the ecu being modified accordingly. A difficult task but not impossible but needs a fair bit of custom work to operate well! That tiny supercharger is also going to be overwhelmed at any decent air flow being t

    Compond Charged VR6

Hmm, not sure that you want to do that - seems like a bad mix! I take it given they are so small that you are feeding the turbo via the supercharger? In which case how are you going to develop the electro-magnet to disengage the supercharger so it doesn't over spin at high revs or have you worked that out with the pulley system? Not that such a supercharger is any good for the 2.8 anyway as it's too small. When I worked out these engines being compounded supercharged to turbo many years ago I think I came up with an Eaton M62 disengaged via e-m feeding something like a GTX42 - pretty
