Well, speaking from recent experience, an unwrapped 6b will increase bay temps considerably. A wrap is therefore recommended and advised to drop bay temps and also it's suggested that keeping the heat inside the 6b via a wrap will also aid exhaust flow- draw the gases out quicker. If you're buying a wrap, go for a titanium type made by dei, these are much better than a fibreglass wrap because they stay looking nice for longer and smoke much less whilst they mould to your 6b. It's also recommended to use a special silicon spray to waterproof the wrap and therefore preventing some corrosion.3 points

Hi all, I have been a member on here now for over 8 years now. I have learned lots from different members on here, from my first supercharger build to my last turbo build this site has been an invaluable source of information. My intention has always been to write a build thread to help inspire others as I have been inspired from reading many build threads on here. Anyway here is my project car. Its a 2000 W reg 2.8 24v 4 motion with 18x8J Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.2's With plans for big power in the future I decided to upgrade the seats to save weight2 points

What you say is true, Rich. I forgot to mention that I did this on the way back, in 1st and 2nd gear after not running on that rolling road, merely a spectator. A spectator because I wanted to avoid issue. So I was a good boy and ended up punished anyway lol.2 points

I don't know if i've posted in the right place, although I'm being lazy and wondering if I can get away without heat wrapping my 6 branch. I know what its like heat wrapped, has anyone got any insight on what its like without being heat wrapped, Also if it makes a difference, pros/cons Thanks in advance1 point

Yeah it's not a nice job. Wear gloves and apply wet. Helps a lot. You will also need some metal ties (lots of them). I've had a stainless manifold for years on all my VR's and never had one crack. They would usually only crack if you have bad engine mounts with excessive engine movement putting stress on the manifold.1 point

Best advice is to remove the gearbox and inspect. Clutch fork are common for splitting and you loose ability to engage clutch.1 point

I've heard stories with them cracking. If it's off the car currently then recommend that you wrap it or have it ceramic coated. Apply the wrap whilst it's wet!1 point

Had a feeling the golf wasn't performing as normal a week prior to the meet. The rollers confirmed. I was down approx 100bhp due to a suspect fault with the wastegate. Had a great day with the club at stealth again, thanks to everyone involved with the organising of it. Looking forward to the next one1 point -
It's a race to see who can peel the most amount of lemons with a wooden spoon over a 24 hour period. I think there's one more spot to fill this year, there's still time.. @hvr6 you may have one more dropping out.. Knowledge is power :P1 point

Hi VR6Pete, great to see you stayed loyal to the badge , I would normally say it feels great to be back but it's almost impossible to find a decent vr nowadays!!! Been a long while since I was in the game can't wait to own another!!1 point

So I swapped the coil packs around. Faulty cylinders worked and those that were working, misfired and threw codes. I don't normally exceed 5k revs. Coil packs look dead and like the ones that the car rolled out the factory with. Exceeded 5k revs multiple times on the way back. Stressed old components.1 point

Crank pulley off at last bolt as tight as did the breaker bar trick using starter. Auxiliary belt tensioner bearing was noisy cut around plastic with die grinder just enough to squeeze bearing out.new bearing in with loctite retaining compound.1 point

Alright dude, been a long time. Did u ever get round to fitting all the rear axle bits you had off me ?? Hows the vento coming along ??1 point

Slave cylinder might be stuffed. The new pressure plate has more pressure than the old one and the slave might have been wearing out and now the new pressure plate is exposing the slaves wear.1 point
