    Also depends what is on the log book etc... If it's down as a vr6 on the log book and has had all the engineers reports etc.. Then it will be more saleable Club Chairman

    Hey mate. Sold mine for 2.5k from memory, but was a full wide track obd2, coil overs, 2.9 wossner low comp pistons. Was a H plate and body shell was fairly tidy. Club Chairman

    I was going to suggest the oil cooler but united motorsport has already suggested it. it's not uncommon for it to go, it has coolant running through a chamber to cool the oil. the oil cooler is reasonably cheap to replace, also get the 2 seals also as they go hard after a while, but be careful replacing as the "crack" pipe is easily damaged that the hose from the oil cooler connect too..... so yes worth replacing and see how you get on, naturally you will need to flush fluids etc...

    Sounds like an interesting project ! cabrioman aka TonyVRT on here may be able she's some light, or Paul parky as they both had syncros that required some fabrication. Club Chairman

    Sounds like a good formula that. Having a second car (daily) when our VR's are now knocking on abit is a win win situation. When you drive the daily, the VR feels like it's faster than the speed of light, but also takes out the stress fixing it up and not worrying about it having a flap and breaking down but more importantly your not spanking your money on petrol that could be put to better use fixing it up Club Chairman

    Sounds like it's something as a result of your work to me, what your best doing is getting a set of clocks (borrow them from a mate / someone local) to check if they function correctly. Probably easier doing that than troubleshooting your wiring at this point. However if you still get the issue then it's time to check your wiring Club Chairman

    My daily car is a 3 door punto and I've got 2 kids, had it for 5 years now and don't believe it to be too small so the golf will be fine, but suppose a passat 4 mo is still "keeping it in the family" as they say Club Chairman

    Congratulations on the pending marriage, I think the decision will depend on a few factors 1) time / money as you previously mentioned 2) is it worth buying another one if you have done a lot of work to yours? What I'm trying to say is that you could buy one and could have mechanical issues on your honeymoon with an "unknown" car, you'd never hear the last of it from the other half lol If the rest of your car is in good condition and you have a good base, converting to manual will make it more desirable. It has been done a few times, should be threads covering it on here I don't think
