  1. Soooo OEM+ stand for "Original Equipment Manufacturer +". This term originally comes from the automotive world to describe the customization of a car in a subtle way, (mainly) using parts and accessories from the same manufacturer or the same group (Using Audi parts on a Volkswagen for example) . More generally it means customize a car very discreetly, with a close look to the original, playing on the details. In contrast of tuning and its extravagance. _ Wow, never seen a VW Golf so clean! Does it come from the factory like this? _ Well almost, it's OEM+. Just changed a few details to enha
  2. Sounds like a MAF issue. Have you replaced that?

Take a look at our member map [emoji106]? I bet there's a few members down that way old chap.
  4. Do you have any photos of the puller in question?
  5. Pain in the arse job grabbed this from another forum and assuming you have a mk3 golf: It's quit possible you can do this with only the column cover removed. Certainly it can be done with just the column cover and steering wheel removed. However I'm replacing my ignition switch again because I bought the $10 one and not the $30 lifetime warranty one. My key cylinder was worn so I'm replacing it as well.If you don't know how to get your column out refer to post http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?2532481There you have it with the new $30 key cylinder installed. It
  6. makes perfect sense to go down the schimmel route then mate Talk about good timing
  7. The UM chips are "protected" usually so you wont be able to make any modifications, I will show you what mine looked like when I opened the ECU, it was like a sandwich ! Vince generally uses a emulator to map on the fly, and then writes the EPROM and installs at the end of the mapping session.
  8. we usually hold a rolling road day April / May time @ Stealth Racing so be good to get to that
  9. oh sweet, enough to get your running at least, would recommend getting a custom map off Vince though for optimal gains
  10. My opinion is that if its going to be driven frequently and you need practically then stick with OEM or OEM+ - They always seem to hold the money well, no matter what you spend you will never recover what you sunk into the car, but GOOD OEM examples appeal to more people should you wish to sell in the future. Before you spend any money, check the underside, floor pans, struts etc... potential welding costs £££.
  11. Isn't there a cooling off period you are still in? Gearbox isn't a big job to be honest! Hope its nothing major ! deffo post up with the results! I would have asked for him to use his discretion and good human nature instead of supporting the money grabbing tactics of the RAC - B*stards ! Maybe you would have got home if you were wearing these;
  12. Very tidy mate, sure it wont be for sale for long! Good luck
  13. If there is no transponder in the key, check to see if its been secured to the pickup around the ignition barrel. If the imob has been bypassed in the past (defeated as its some times referenced as) then you will still get the "Engine start blocked by immobilizer" error, if when it starts OK and you DONT get the error, then suggests it has not been bypassed and you have a genuine intermittent fault, in which case you would only get engine start blocked by immobilizer error when it has been blocked by imob due to a fault. Side thought though - does this happen from cold
  14. boost is fun Who are you getting to map it?
  15. Hiya @Goodge123 A long time ago I had a Schrick BVH, 268 cams - I did have it mapped - engine was pushing 221BHP, but was getting some slight valve spring bounce high up the rev range. I had purchased the Schimmel heavy duty valve springs and titanium retainers but sadly never got around to fitting them, I know many folk who use the schimmel hardware and swear buy it. As you are only in Banbury, you could pop into Stealth Racing and speak to Vince for his opinion, you may not need them, but if you are doing a general head overhaul and planning on more power
  16. Also green flag are just as bad as in certain scenarios you have to pay £/mile ! joke!
  17. wowsers. I would have told him to stick it! It always pays off to read the small print - I know some break down companies don't pick up from race-tracks, and places like nurburgring are excluded from the policy too! What defined it as a modified car? Was it because it is low? Different wheels? exhaust? RAC are not the best to be honest! I always take up breakdown cover from my insurance that uses local break down recovery vehicles - yes probably not gonna get a good road side fix like AA or RAC, but I would really only be looking for recovery home and fix i
  18. Prep for GTI festival continues. Had an annoying "clink" that used to happen when breaking hard after being on the loud peddle. While I was sorting my exhaust I noticed this sleeve sliding in the long centre pipe [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23] Unfortunately the adapter I purchased to connect my 2.5" exhaust to my 2.25" decat pipe didn't fit so have ordered another type. Hopefully will get it all bolted up. While I was at it, ordered new gaskets and noticed one of the bolts from the 6 branch protrudes slightly so will need file that down slightly so it's flush with the gasket. Note to s
  19. Hope everyone's prep work is going well! My car is now running again. Just waiting for some exhaust bits to arrive for mine and will be ready for GTI festival! I see we have lots of new members recently and you are more than welcome to come join us! Come on guys let's get this last event of the year buzzing! [emoji594][emoji594][emoji594]
  20. Welcome mate. You will have lots of fun with a vr6. They are great engines to work on. I've got a s/c on mine and it's fun to drive :-) 294bhp. Get some pictures up in the members rides forum [emoji106]?
  21. That's correct. My 1994 Corrado was obd1 and had factory imob. First thing to check is the wiring from coil reader to alarm box. Sometimes just needs cleaning etc.. the whole imob system are prone to going down and simply best thing to do is to code out the ECU. Send it to stealth racing they will do it on a 48hour turn around.
  22. Bolts should be replaced - can get from dealer. Rear: Torque the pad/caliper carrier to 61 Ft/Lbs. Torque the caliper slide pins to 26 Ft/Lbs. worth getting hold of the Bentley Manual ? *cough* https://docs.google.com/open?id=0ByZN3kG9R6E3dkNBbWpqcnNjdnM
  23. Could be worn syncro or if you are lucky your cables might need some adjustment.
