  1. Hiya @brans I have come across stories where the fuses / connections have corroded / melted in the fuse box on the battery. I would be looking beyond the fan / motor and looking at the wiring / integrity of said fuse box, remove fuses and check for any anomalies, you can see in the above picture that the cooling fans connection doesn't look great and that is a common theme I have seen. Does the left hand fan work if you attach a direct 12v feed and assume you mean the fuse box sat on top of the battery? If so and all the fuses etc.. in the fuse
  2. Hi buddy. Doesn't sound good! Blue smoke as you know indicates oil being burnt. but on idle sounds pretty bad. Are you using a lot of oil? With you mentioned about the PCV delete, it could be throwing oil back into the intake manifold causing it to burn more oil, so I would personally restore the PCV valve to rule that out initially and check if you have oil re-circulating into your inlet manifold, of course you mentioned you used to get light blue smoke when warmed up, rings should seal a bit better when up to temp so unless you are hearing any slap when warming up it
  3. Looks tidy Carl! I've got a lot of work to do on the car tomorrow at tatton get it finished. Run out of time today [emoji85] Well excited though ! Catch you all tomorrow. P.s weather looks good [emoji274][emoji274][emoji274]

  5. Damn right I did. Nothing keeps me away from VWNW! George and Dan were diamonds and helped me out big time! Of course they did all the work and I sat back with a brew [emoji23][emoji23] joking of course... Big job to get alternator off with charger. Ended up taking front end off, charger, pulleys just to get to alternator. At that point noticed the bolt was rounded off and just spinning in the housing so had to smash the alternator apart to get mole grips on it so could remove the nut. The alternator was clicking when spinning. Although bearings looked OK and was still s
  6. Got my pass cheers Carl. Looking forward to coming to this one!!
  7. Awesome! Just need some TSW venoms to complete that 90's look :-)
  8. Well that was short lived. Alternator has packed up and go home tomorrow! Probably due to tension off the charger. Luckily through the power of the owners club and it's great members will have another alternator fitted tomorrow ready to go home tomorrow night [emoji106]?
  9. There are local camp sites available for VWNW [emoji106]? http://www.vwnw.co.uk/links/
  10. Good old elbow Greece. You can get various detailing products from auto brite direct etc. But seriously if you can get some engine degreaser and jet wash you'll get most of it off. Carful around coil pack etc.. With it [emoji23][emoji23]
  11. Best get a move on as only a week to go [emoji23][emoji106]?
  12. Doesn't look so clean now [emoji23][emoji23] defiantly needs a good wash and Hoover!

  15. This was a brilliant show last year! is anyone interested who attended last year coming to support the club this year?
  16. Cant think of any reason why it wouldn't fire if you are getting spark and fuel ! As long as there are no imobiliser issues of course, however if you have VAG-COM, fresh fuel and nice oil then should be ok, especially if it has been standing for 10 years. If it fires, it will probably sound like a tank, just let it tick over at idle as the hydraulic lifters will be dry as anything, but what you could do before you let it fire is to pull the main engine plug and crank it over to get some oil circulating around - could take at least 30 minutes of ticking over to quiet down, but keep
  17. If your pump isn't working off a direct feed then I would say its caput! If you don't want to buy one new, I'm sure you can get one second hand off a breaker. You can pick up after market ones for around 50 - 55 quid off eBay, but at least now you know its broken there is no risk of it not powering up once replaced. Pete
  18. So bit of an update! It's still running nicely and now has a fresh MOT ticket. Only advisories were rear axel bushes and some play in rear bearings, but as the bearings were new they just needed tweaking up now I've got some miles on them. Axel bushes I will do next month and replace with power flex ones. So she's had s good wash and Hoover ready for a drive to Cornwall soon! Got the roof box on - total nightmare with the roof rails for the Corrado! Lol Got to do some club repping [emoji23][emoji23] So fingers crossed it doesn't let me down as nearly 300 mile drive each way!
  19. Cheers@c00k and @20JahreGTI for the info. To be honest I think I will just get a complete kit to keep it simple !
