How's it....
I've had my vr since 2006 and it's the car I've always wanted since their release drove my first one at 18, feel in love right away. That noise... yummy!!!
She hasn't been driven since about.... 5 or 6 years ?. I turn her over now and again and she start first turn every time.
 I am now 38 going on 28 and have decided not to buy a new golf R but instead plough the same money into my baby. I am still undecided between OEM resto or a balls out custom inside and out? Both will be bare metal refits.
Any Opinion is welcome.

I have certainly thought about many things to replace it. R32 etc..... Whatever I do decide it will certainly be more practical !
 
Would love for the car to stay in the club and start winning shows again. That's what it was built for. Bodywork and paint alone runs into the tens of thousands. Only thing it's really missing is a smoothed bay and a charger !
 
Car will also come with an entire interior plastics set. The plan was to skin the lot in a piano black effect, much like the newer golfs. Tiring of carbon this, carbon that....
 
It also has an Alpine DVD screen/player fitted which I forgot to mention along with some Focal (I think) component speakers. The AudioBahn amp I will likely keep though.

Me to. My plan was to see so many shows this year and yet I have not been to a single one. Due to work or family or weather etc....
 
I don't get to enjoy it like I used to, so it's about time to let someone else enjoy it.

I'll have to take a butchers at that.. sounds nice..

Well that's a result then I have magnecor leads and recommend them. Had them for 8 years but they were originally off my mk3 so much older. I did send them off to magnecor for repair after they were damaged from my crash at the Nurburgring. They have been great since.

For the first time in my life I thought I would tighten my belt - if you ask @VR6CABBS or @Dave_ciw then I'm tighter than scrooge at Christmas!
 
So far I've managed to save;
 
£21/month by switching my energy tariff with my current energy provider. £15/month by calling sky and removing Cinema from my package - I will be calling them again in a few weeks to complain it is still too much and looking to cancel unless they can further reduce monthly payments.  
I will be looking at setting up a second bank account for my monthly direct debits to come out of so I have a "true picture" of what I have in my current account.
 
I have downloaded a budget spreadsheet to get my incomings and outgoings down in a spreadsheet using this template: http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/redir/e5897875 - It's worked pretty well to visualize where my money is going
 
Yep, Kids & house & cars! ha ha
 
But gives you an idea of how much you are over / under spending v's your income!
 
So what other money saving tips do you use to help you save a few quid / manage your incomings and outgoings?
 
Of course any money saved will go on the Corrado!

Broke down today. RAC man said gearbox has gone. Gear linkage is fine. Clutch pedal has pressure. When you put in gear and lift off nothing happens. Also anyone know anywhere that does uprated boxes for mk3 VR6's? Or what my options are? It's running around 300bhp so is not standard. Or am I better to go for a rebuild?

VR6's are used in many applications, however this is probably the best one yet
 
Behold a VR6 (3.6 Liter) in a Linde Fork lift - limited to around 90BHP.

Bearings removed were bog standard no angular contact ones.looks like they use the spring loaded coupler for any floating in bearings under boost think I'll keep the coupler get 2 new angular contact bearings and do a rebuild new seals new o rings and fresh oil.

Stunning

My mate bodged the broken HT lead for £1.50 so I'm up and running properly again. It seemed the last set were a bit short and therefore the lead was under tension which eventually snapped the nipple off.
 
I'm going to order some decent quality HT leads this time. I've been recommended Magnacor leads so I'll be ordering them.
 
They're expensive at £125 or so but they are supposed to be race quality and hopefully they'll last.
